A new patch for The Last Of Us Part II is out there to bring 60 FPS to The Last Of Us Part II among a few other updates as well
It should come as no surprise that Naughty Dog has been working on a way to bring The Last Of Us Part II over to the PS5 in an official way here. Just as the first title did, it released right around the time of a console jump and they would want to make sure that gamers out there get the best experience on the latest version. Not to mention that they most likely already knew that the system was dropping around then, given that relationship with Sony. That all said, unlike The Last Of Us from before, we are not getting a remaster to make sure that it can hop console generations easily but instead getting a full upgrade and patch. One that can be added to your game as you reading these words right now. All to make the game run and flow on the PS5 as if it was native in the first place.
It should be said here that this update for The Last Of Us Part II does not look like it is going to much more for the game besides add in the 60 FPS option to run the game in and allow for the faster loading times that the PS5 is known for. I mean, the game was already a technical marvel on the PS4 so I would be hard-pressed to see what additions they could do beyond just this over the Pro version of the console. Even the following trailer for all of this makes it seem like it will look the same as before. It will come down to using those extra frames and loading during the actual gameplay for those of us looking to go through The Last Of Us Part II one more time. Especially now that we can use all of the current-gen hardware to make some of the lighting and particle effects seem a bit smoother along the way. Have a look or just download this free update now and enjoy.

Once patch 1.08 for The Last Of Us Part II is installed on your PS5, you will find a toggle in the Display options that allows you to choose between a Framerate Target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.
Is it at all a surprise that we are getting this update as we are and not as we did for the original The Last Of Us? Do you think that there could have been more the team could have done beyond this or would that have been a full remaster that truly does not feel needed at this point? Will you be going back through the game one more time now that you have these options or will you be playing it all for the first time? Let everyone out there know your thoughts on all of this down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. If there is more to share for The Last Of Us Part II in any way, we will share it all here for you. Just be sure to keep checking back in for all of that and everything else we might have to offer up for the game.
