It looks like the Star Wars Battlefront sequel is aiming to release in Fall of 2017 just in time for the next Star Wars film
Earlier in the year when it was brought up that Star Wars Battlefront was going to be getting a sequel it was laid out that would be the case between April and the end of next year. DICE is currently working on it all but that still leaves a pretty wide open range to expect to see the game on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Thankfully in the most recent investor call for EA it was let loose that we can expect to see Star Wars Battlefront sometime in Fall of 2017. That limits down to a few more months than we previously had before so we can all rejoice.
Of course that announcement is still a bit ambiguous on the date, as it should be at this stage, but really it boils down to Star Wars Battlefront‘s sequel to land aside the next film in the franchise. Given that DICE used a lot of the material for the current game from the first few films it would make sense we would see this sequel as more on the franchise expands and they can pull from the newer films. Of course this means that this sequel would only hold content from the seventh and eighth film potentially here, it does give us all something truly new to look forward to. Even though the latest film does feel like a rehash of the old ones. Yea, I said it…
Asked by an analyst about the timing of the next Battlefront game, EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the sequel is coming “a year from now.”
“We’re working very hard on making sure that is an extremely deep and engaging offering,” Jorgensen added.
It looks like they are holding onto the Star Wars franchise rather tight here now that they have it all. In another report it was stated that we would be seeing a new title in the franchise every year for the next few years to come. This year of course bringing use the VR experience to tie into the film coming out this year. Let’s just hope that they don’t turn this into a film tie-in thing every year and give us some truly amazing games instead. I’m more hopeful for the Visceral Games take on it all but we are still waiting for all of that now aren’t we. Most likely some kind of update by the next year.
Are you shocked at all that we will be seeing the Star Wars Battlefront sequel in time for the next major film? Did you enjoy the most recent Battlefront title enough to be excited for a sequel? Do you think that it will have a lot more on the most recent two films or could it span the whole franchise instead? Let us know what you are thinking and feel free to discuss in the comments below. For more on this Star Wars Battlefront sequel, be sure to stay right here as we’ll keep digging and bring you what we can. At least as we are allotted in terms of updates.
