Get refreshed on the story so far for the Tekken line before the full launch of Tekken 8 out there soon
To say that Tekken has had a simple story this whole time, would be a very huge misunderstanding. It does and it does not. Huge fans of the IP would know it can get rather complicated and weird just like many of the properties that Bandai Namco puts out there. That is not a bad thing, just for newcomers it could be a little hard to be able to dive right into everything. So, before the launch of Tekken 8 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this January 26th, we have a chance to look back and get a recap of the whole story so far. A story that is boiled down to fathers and sons throwing each other off cliffs over and over.
There is a whole lot more to the story of Tekken than just that, but the recap we have for you is from Brian Cox recounting it all in a hilarious manner. The Mishima Saga, if you will. One that has now spanned seven games and brought in all manner of fighters to help save the world from total domination while also managing the Devil gene that is out there in a few of the various characters too. With Tekken 8 also getting labeled as the final fight to do all of this in the game’s universe. All as we see son throw father off a cliff, then into a volcano, and then father do the same to son, and much more. It is really just worth a watch so you can get caught up on the story just before the game comes about and put one of these thrown-from-a-cliff stories to an end.
Tekken 8 — The Story So Far
The Mishima saga rages on in Tekken 8. But how did we get here? Brian Cox recounts the tournaments, twists, and cliffside encounters that make Tekken, Tekken.
Tekken 8 launches on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 26th, 2024.
It is weird to think about in all of the years I have played Tekken, I had no clue this was the broad story of it all. Nor did I know the real reason many of the characters were fighting in the first place. It is all very “anime” to me, so that is most likely why it went over my head here before. Then again, it wasn’t until shortly ago that it felt like fighting games were given a full story and not just little blurbs for each character at the end. The more you know and now we all know this before jumping into the fight of Tekken 8 and maybe throwing someone off a sea cliff into the mouth of Cthulhu out there. I am dreaming big and going home is where I am going with that little comment here.
Did you know all of this was the story of Tekken before now or did you need this little recap? Is it odd to see it all boil down to these three characters while we ignore the fighting bear and fighting wooden doll from the past? Will this be the true end or will we see another of those anime twists come out there so we can have nine more games to tell a short story? Fight it all out in the comment section below and discuss it all until the game launches. If we have more to offer up for Tekken 8, we will have it all here for you. Please come back to see and hear about all of that as we head into the coming weeks when the game launches.
