The third developer diary for Conan Exiles has been released and this one focuses on the combat of Conan Exiles as well as how to summon those avatars
In just under two weeks Conan Exiles will be moving into early access for those looking to give the game a go on their PC. It is still coming to the PS4 and Xbox One, but Funcom is only giving “the master race” the chance on January 31st for ease of getting some solid responses back to make the game better. That is what these things are supposed to be for and not just a demo of Conan Exiles to generate buzz before launch. That all said here, and back to the buzz, it looks like the third pillar of gameplay has just been shown off so we can all understand how to dominate the game in its many ways.
Yes, that means here we are with a new video for Conan Exiles that shows off the raw combat in the game as well as how to bring forth those giant avatars to crush your enemies. What kind of Conan game would it be if none of that was present here right? Now we just happen to have a better breakdown of it all.
As is to be expected, combat is brutal and filled with a lot of over the top displays of violence. It looks like we can arm both hands in Conan Exiles with varying arrays of weapons to suit our play styles. This includes the basic Sword and Shield to Dual Hand Weapons to holding a throwing weapon that can also be used at close range. Pretty much if it makes sense to be in Conan Exiles it looks to be here and usable by the players. How it all functions in the long run is still to be seen but it is there in the game and ready for use.
It has also been explained that the avatars that we’ve seen in past videos for Conan Exiles have been given further details. It looks like there will be many in the final version of the game and that we will be the ones in control of them when they hit the battle field. We will have our summoner bring them forth and then we will take the reins to do as we wish. This will leave the summoner vulnerable as they are able to be seen from anywhere on the map and since killing them seems to be the only way to stop the rampage, that could be a huge detriment to the amount of time that you get to smash. Seems balanced but I can already see ways of bypassing that unless they are plugged.
Conan Exiles — Dominate In The World Of Conan
Combat is a key aspect of Conan Exiles and players will engage in brutal battles using anything from swords to warhammers and longbows. A violent fatality system ensures that they can slice each other in half or even see their own head rolling away from them in what is a savage and bloody combat system true to the spirit of the world’s most famous barbarian. To dominate the Exiled Lands, players will also have to build cities and fortresses to claim land, and they must go out and capture thralls to help them defend their settlements or create special weapons and armor. To truly dominate Conan’s world, they must also build altars to their god and bring them sacrifices to appease them. If they earn the blessings of their god, players will ultimately get to summon and take direct control of huge, towering avatars of the gods that can roam the world and crush both bodies and buildings under their weight. There will be several countermeasures against avatars and players can also choose to run and play on servers without avatars if they want to.
What do you think about the combat we will be getting here in Conan Exiles? Do you think that there will be enough options to sate all kinds of play styles or will there quickly be a solid “go to” for all? Can you see how one could keep their summoner perpetually alive and safe here or do you think that the solo walk into the battle is Funcom‘s way of mitigating all of that? Let us know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. As more on Conan Exiles is released, be sure to stick right here as we’ll keep all of the news and updates flowing out here like the blood of our enemies.
