Kingdom Hearts IV Takes Us All Into A Different Underworld Late Next Year

Kingdom Hearts IV — Coco

An extended look at Kingdom Hearts IV came out of D23, and it brings us back to some familiar Kingdom Hearts places

It looks as if we are going to be heading into a few new realms in Kingdom Hearts IV, as we have a look at a new IP for us all and a few from the past coming back. All of this is coming out of D23 this year from Square Enix so they can show us how the world of Coco is being brought to life in the game. Not only the world of Coco, but it looks like our god Hades will be back in the mix for Kingdom Hearts to some degree. All when the game launches on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC in late 2027. Yes, we have a timeline to look at, and it is hitting the sweet spot right before we lose all of the physical media out there. That is at least nice of them…

If you thought that was all we were going to see for Kingdom Hearts IV out there, you would be a bit wrong. There is a lot to see for the new realm we will find ourselves in; in addition to that, we also get to see a lot of gameplay and many new looks at the city of Quadratum. A city that seems to be bringing us a bit further away from the cartoon nature of Kingdom Hearts in the past, and a bit more into a realistic setting. This might be due to the fact that we are getting more of the Pixar universes bleeding into this one, but with Hercules and Paper Mickey showing up, we are going to have some of the classic fun in the mix too. You might have already jumped on down to the video to check it all out already, but if not, I will let you go so you can fully enjoy what we will be playing in the coming year. Plenty of time to speculate on what other IPs they are going to send us into.

Kingdom Hearts IV — Coco

Kingdom Hearts IV follows protagonist Sora and some familiar characters as they journey through the mysterious city of Quadratum, where dark creatures known as the Heartless are causing havoc. In the next chapter of the beloved series, Sora will once again journey to various worlds inspired by Disney and Pixar, where new figures cross his path and new powers awaken.

This new trailer revealed a plethora of new information about Kingdom Hearts IV, including the return of familiar faces like Sora’s friends Donald Duck and Goofy. Fans will be able to play as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy as they seek to uncover information about Sora’s whereabouts.

Kingdom Hearts IV will be available for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in late 2027.

How do you feel about Coco coming into the world of Kingdom Hearts, and how is that going to shake things up for the spirits of the dead? Will we have more of the Pixar films this time around, or will there be a good smattering of IPs in the mix out there? Do you think that we will see anything from Marvel or Star Wars in the mix, or will it stay true to the base Disney properties out there? Let us all discuss it and more down in the comment section of the page. We are going to have a lot more for Kingdom Hearts IV in the coming year, so you will want to watch our social channels and the website for all of those updates. This one does seem to want to slip out when most of us are taking a break for the week, so who knows when more will land.
