Things Are Opening Up Now For Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles

Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles — Opening Cinematic

Take in the opening cinematic for Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles to get yourself ready for Final Fantasy Tactics to launch

It is always a weird thing for me to think about that there is a good portion of the gaming community that has yet to experience Final Fantasy Tactics. Granted, this is a title that Square Enix placed out there for us all so many years ago, and it was more of a cult classic title than anything widespread out there. With September 30th on the way to us all, more will get to experience it all with Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC again. Those who were out at PAX West, though, had a bit of a treat during the panel for the game. A treat that we can offer all of those new gamers out there now, with a look at the open cinematic for the game. That way, you did not miss out on anything, and can have another fun reason to want to spin this game up as soon as it releases out there.

If you are looking for something overly exciting, as we have in other video games, this opener for Final Fantasy Tactics is a bit of basic animation using the style of the core game to tell a little of the story. Not much of the story, if you are worried about that, but more of the party that is setting out into the world to kick things off. No dialog, basic music, and a few of the Chocobo riders doing their thing. A nice little tease of things to come, but nothing that will spoil Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles for the new players. Also, not much to talk about as it is a quick little thing, just as early video games were stuck with. The limited space on the discs did make that a little difficult to place a whole lot of cinematics back then. Even if it had been nice to have something truly new for this version of the game. Have a look and see if it is going to live up to your hype in a few weeks from now.

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles — Opening Cinematic

At PAX West, Square Enix showed off the opening cinematic for its upcoming standalone tactical RPG, Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles. Debuting during the “Making of Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles” panel, the updated cinematic offers a glimpse into the early lives of Ramza and Delita, setting the stage for their harrowing journey through Ivalice. The sequence also showcases the emotionally rich soundtrack that will bring the epic story to life when the game launches on September 30 across all major consoles and PC.

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles will include both enhanced and classic versions of the game. The enhanced version features modern upgrades and quality-of-life changes, making Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles the perfect entry point to the tactical RPGs. The classic version takes a more nostalgic approach, recreating the game and perfectly tailoring it for players who want to relive the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is rated T by the ESRB and will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Steam Deck on September 30, 2025.

Does this all hit just as it did back when Final Fantasy Tactics first launched, or is it a fun little reminder of the ride we will be taking by the end of the month? Is it interesting to see that we are getting full voice-over in the core game, but the cinematics still feel like they are coming out of the early 2000s? Would you have rather had a full CG video to open things up here, or is it nice to see that they are truly sticking to the roots of it all instead? Fire off all of those thoughts down in the comment section, and then feel free to discuss until we have more. We will have more for Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles, that is certain, so please keep on checking in with the site to get all of those updates. We will also have them all up on the various social channels, too, so keep an eye open on all of those to stay as up to date as possible.
