The release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl for the PS5 is now on the way for all of those S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans
Those who did not get to head out into the Zone in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl as it was not on the PS5, well, it looks as if your day in the light is going to come. Yes, after a year on the Xbox Series X|S and PC, GSC Game World is gearing up and bringing it to the other major platform out there. There is no solid date on when, just Late in 2025, but if you only have the one option to play your games, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will eventually be there. Even if we have to wait until December 31st it seems. If only we could have had all of this from the start, but I am sure there were some solid reasons that it was going to take a little longer than it should have. Maybe it was all due to some of the newer things that can be added in on the PS5 and PS5 Pro with the different things held within…
Yes, we mentioned the controller stuff there for a reason, as it does look as if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl will be getting some fun features out there for the new DualSense controller. Like the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Any of the other updates, well, that is still for us to wait and find out. The same with any of the newer things that can be added into S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 with the new environment that the game will be running in. Although, I am sure it will be mostly with the resolution and visuals that the PS5 Pro can offer up that the other systems cannot. Maybe even a bit of crossplay and the like, too, since that is all the rage out there in the world. We are just going to have to wait. Kind of like the characters we have in the non-gameplay video we have below to help show off this announcement to the world out there. A weird choice to go with, but it gives us all something to look at instead of just the text we normally get.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl — PS5 Announcement
Following a successful global launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S on November 20, 2024, GSC Game World is thrilled to announce that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chornobyl will be released on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro in late 2025.
Leveraging the console hardware, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on PlayStation 5 will fully utilize DualSense controller features, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for deeper player immersion. Further technical enhancements for the PS5 Pro are also in development. More details, including a specific release date, will be shared closer to launch.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is set in a fictional, reimagined Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The nuclear disaster at the Chornobyl Power Plant in 1986 was not the only incident, as a second explosion struck the reactor in 2006, giving rise to the Zone. This dangerous region is inhabited by mutated creatures, hostile anomalies, deadly radiation, and an enigmatic, anomalous energy.
Bounty hunters venture deep into the Zone, drawn in by the temptation of its treasures and mysteries. Some are fleeing their past, others are driven by greed, and a few are determined to uncover the truth behind the Zone’s darkest secrets.
You will step into the role of Skif, a solitary stalker who enters the Zone following a series of unexpected events. As you journey toward the Heart Of Chornobyl, you will gradually unravel the secrets of this world — navigating the balance of power among factions, fighting against hostile enemies, and surviving in a constantly changing, perilous world. In this non-linear narrative, every decision you make will shape the outcome of this expansive and epic story. With over three hours of scripted cutscenes, deep faction systems, and unpredictable encounters around every corner, no two journeys through the Zone will be the same. Thanks to Unreal Engine 5, photogrammetry technology, and the developers’ frequent visits to the real Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, the authenticity and atmosphere — hallmarks of the series — are more immersive than ever.
Did you have to hold off on playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 so you can experience it on the PS5, or is this just another platform to entice your friends into the game?
