The launch of Among Ashes is finally here and those looking for a good Christmas fright can pick up Among Ashes right now
It is time for a solid blast into the past with Among Ashes as it has now launched out there for the PS5 and PC to give us some classic gaming fun mixed with some newer gaming fun. Also to give us some extra horror to have around this Christmas time with Rat Cliff Games not only dropping the game so close, but it looks as if it is part of the core setting in the game too. This is a video game about playing a killer video game, and what says holiday fun like that? Maybe I am the only one in the minority for all of that… In any instance, Among Ashes has launched out there for all of its platforms and we have one more good push to show why you should be playing it or asking for it in the near future. Let us have a look.
As mentioned, Among Ashes takes place in December in an area of the world where it is cold and winter has set in. Our characters in the game are given a link to a new video game that can be found on this new thing called the internet. We download it, play it, have some fun, and then start to see how Night Call has started to manipulate things in our home and reality. We are going to have to keep on playing the game to stay alive and see if there is more to all of it too. You can see some of this in action just a bit lower, as well as some of the newer horrors that Among Ashes is going to be tossing at us as we try to survive the survival horror game in the survival horror game. So many levels of meta here…
Among Ashes — Launch Trailer
It’s a stormy, cold winter night in December, and your friend sends you an instant message pointing you towards Night Call, a horror game that he found online. You download it, but as you play, strange things start happening in your apartment. Something is terribly wrong with the game.
Among Ashes features a multilayered narrative, and meta-framing device which cleverly nests a full retro-inspired first-person survival horror game within another horror game. Players will be transported to the turn of the millennium via a range of perfectly implemented presentational touches, narrative surprises, smart gameplay mechanics, and classic puzzles.
In the retro-styled Night Call, players will explore the dimly lit labyrinthian halls of Stoker Manor; solving conundrums while they fight to survive the nightmarish creatures that lie within. However, in the real world, they’ll be haunted by dark entities that have latched on to this strange game – as they frantically try to unravel the mystery behind the game and its enigmatic creator.
Among Ashes is now available for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. At launch, it supports the following languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Will you be playing Among Ashes during this time of year to further immerse yourself or do you live in a place where December is a summer time of year? Do you think this game is going to fall into many of the tropes that the “killer video game” has done in other forms of media out there? Will we actually be the ones who can figure out how to beat this thing or will the story always end with our characters failing and dying no matter what? Creep on down to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else that we have to share with you for the game. We are going to check out more for Among Ashes and bring it to you as soon as we can. Please keep on coming back here to see and hear about all of that as time marches on.
