Underworld Dreams: The False King, the first part of the Underworld Dreams line, is coming to the Switch soon
The darkness of the Cthulhu mythology just keeps on seeping into the world and this time it is with Underworld Dreams: The False King making its debut on the Switch. When that will be, well, that is still to be determined beyond just the “soon” listing that we have for it. That is at least one step up from before where Drop Of Pixel only had the title on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Although, this “soon” does look like it will be during the Spring of 2022, so there is that to look forward to for those looking to get the first part of the Underworld Dreams series on the Switch. I guess that should have been part of this mention too, as it is only this first part for now.
Just as we have with all of those announcements like this, we have a new trailer for Underworld Dreams to look at here too. A nice little look at how we will be dealing with a lot of the retro look and feel to the video game in all of the sense of the word. It is deliberately being made to look like a title from the 80s and 90s, which makes sense given that the main part of the story does take place in the 80s here. This is something I am sure will help the studio along to make sure the rest of the Underworld Dreams anthology flows out there too. Have a look and see if you will be adding this bit of horror to the Switch soon or if you will go with the PC version of it all and call it a day.
Underworld Dreams: The False King — Switch Reveal
Published by Skystone Games and created by the one-man dev studio Drop Of Pixel, Underworld Dreams: The False King is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store later this spring. The False King is the first game in the forthcoming horror anthology series Underworld Dreams. Based on the works of HP Lovecraft (and Robert W. Chambers’ The King in Yellow) and set in the 1980s, Underworld Dreams: The False King tells the story of a man who has tracked down his missing brother to a seemingly abandoned building that hides something much more sinister behind its decrepit walls.
Built from the ground up for the Nintendo Switch, Underworld Dreams draws upon the roots of the horror gaming genre. Prepare to dig into the mysteries of the occult and solve puzzles while constantly looking over your shoulder. Ancient forces are at work in this abandoned church, and only you can unlock the secrets of what doom is to come. Ammo and health are limited, there’s no telling what enemies you’ll face.
Key Features
- Solve puzzles to discover the fate of your brother, the dark designs of a cursed relic, and fight ancient and forbidden horrors. Your sanity will be tested as you untwist the riddles of an evil older than humanity itself.
- Every bullet counts as you must measure resources against the haunting doom.
- Old school terror is built around an immersive and fully detailed environment. The False King brings in a dark narrative mixing psychological and cosmic horror.
- Explore the world of psychological horror created by H.P. Lovecraft and based on “The King in Yellow” by Robert W. Chambers.
Were you hoping to see this part of Underworld Dreams hit the Switch or will you be going with a different platform to get your fix? Do you like the way the game looks and will it build into the horror just a bit more to make things weirder? Will they be able to tell the whole story they want here or do you think they will only get to release some parts of it and not much more? Tell us what you are thinking down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. If we have more to share for Underworld Dreams: The False King, know that we will have it here. All you need to do is keep checking back in for all of that and more.
