Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown — Accessibility Deep Dive

More players will get to enjoy Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown with various accessibility options added for this Prince Of Persia

Fresh on the heels of seeing a bit more of the world out there for Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, we get a little taste of how the team over at Ubisoft is going to make the game easier for many gamers out there too. Not in a way that they are stripping any difficulty from this Metroidvania title, but in a way that it will help those with certain disabilities enjoy all the fun the game will offer on January 18th. Although, if you want a bit of a tease for what this Prince Of Persia title will be bringing, there will be a demo out there on January 11th so you can see just how accessible that it will be on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.

While this is more of a standard in the gaming industry and Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown will be employing many of the same features we have seen in many other games, it does look like there will be something extra in the mix too. This is on top of the high contrast modes, subtitle settings, voiceovers, and helpful guiding features to help players along in the game. In this Prince Of Persia, it looks as if they are going to add in an in-game screenshot feature to help remind us of locations we will need to go back to later. Normally in a Metroidvania, this is left to our own memories or note-taking so we know we have to go back after we unlock a new feature. In this OPTIONAL feature, we can take a screenshot that will tag the location so we can find it easier on the minimap. A novel little thing that will greatly help many out there who can use these little hints along the way.

I know there will be a lot of gamers out there upset that Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown will be adding in this kind of thing as it feels like it could be anti-Metroidvania style of game. Some gamers out there do not have the best memory and need to have some kind of help to get back there. On top of that, with how many other games and things we have to grab attention out there, it is common for us all to forget where we were in a specific game when we have to take a break. This new feature feels like it will help bridge that gap and make it less likely we will need to go online to watch a recap of things in this Prince Of Persia just so we can unlock a door we saw hours or days ago. Just as the developers said, I too hope this will catch on and other teams will use something similar to it as we get more titles that are massive in scale and may not be the easiest to remember each and every nook out there.

Will you be using any of the features outlined for Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown or will you try it all as it was originally built? Do you think that the new screenshot feature will be a true boon to the game or will many find it to be a bane to the genre? How else could they make the game accessible to players out there who may not have the same level of physical capabilities but still want to enjoy a solid video game? Head into the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else that we can find for the IP out there. We will have more to share for Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown certainly, so please keep on checking back for all of those updates and many, many more.
