The Signal is revealed to the world with a new Open World Survival title with The Signal looking a little familiar
I hope you are looking out there for another video game that will have us in the universe exploring, crafting, and surviving since we have the reveal here for The Signal. This would be the title that Goose Byte has been working on for a while now and it is finally in a place where they can show it to the world. Not a place where it is finally ready for launch, The Signal still needs work to be done on it, but enough to reveal the basics and that it will be coming to PC and consoles when it is ready. We are going to guess it will be the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at a minimum with this one using all the power of the Unreal 5 engine to bring a new universe to life for us all.
Just like many other titles like it before, The Signal will be placing us out in the universe in a third-person mode where we are going to have to focus on our creativity and ingenuity over sheer violence. That is a hard thing for humans in general, but that is what we are going with here. All so we can explore these new worlds and see what else is out there to be seen. All while building our own bases, vehicles, and various other bots of gear needed so we can survive in the open world of The Signal. All of those rocks and plants are not going to scan themselves and we cannot just send robots out to do the same thing, I guess. It would not be that great of a game if we focused more on that, now would it?
The Signal — Reveal
Almost two years after the studio first appeared on the scene, Goose Byte is excited to share details today on the development of its debut title: The Signal.
Pitching itself as an approachable, third-person multiplayer Open World Survival Craft game with a key focus on pushing player creativity over violence, The Signal is Goose Byte’s contribution to moving the genre forward.
The Signal – which is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 for console and PC – is built upon the three key pillars of exploration, invention, and (yes, you guessed it) survival. With a focus on user-generated crafting content, the game’s unique recipe-sharing system and sustainability theme set it apart from the wealth of quality titles operating in this space.
In The Signal, you will:
- Venture onto an alien planet featuring multiple biomes littered with strange structures and a sentient ecosystem that seems to react to your every move.
- Explore, create, and survive as you choose to tame or coexist with your new home.
- Scan the rocks, flora, fauna, and alien landmarks as you come to grips with this strange new world.
- Invent and share infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment that help you and your expedition solve challenges and puzzles.
- Master the art of sustainable stewardship of the Planet and its resources as you play the long game.
- Play alone or with up to 16 players on player-hosted dedicated servers on this unique expedition through a one-of-a-kind planet.
I am a bit curious to see how The Signal pans out and becomes a full title to enjoy. It may not be my normal bag with just the exploring and crafting aspects of it all, but it does look like the game has a few legs up over the other titles out there that have tried the same thing already. It is the debut title for the studio too, so I will always be open to helping that side of the coin out there to make sure that they are not hindered in their creativity. Thankfully, it is also early on in the reveal for The Signal, so maybe things will shift to be a game that will be in my normal wheelhouse too. Time will tell, but now we have one more contender out there looking to give us all a great experience in the mix of the world.
What do you think about The Signal based on the little that we have here and will it be the title that will bring more into the genre of video games? Will it be hard for humans to not lean into the violent natures of things or will the game do a good job of showing why that is not needed? Will the idea of robots be brought up in the game or will that task be used for other things so we can make sure the game logic flows correctly in the grand scheme of the game here? Take to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else that we have in the works. We will share anything further we get for The Signal here, so please keep on checking in for all of those updates and the many others we have in the works currently.
