The Immortals are here and defending a colossus in the latest gameplay we have for Immortals Of Aveum
The next big gameplay drops out there that we have is for Immortals Of Aveum. This is the upcoming first-person magic-shooter that Ascendant Studios has been working on and has been relatively quiet in general. An odd thing given that it is an EA title in the works, but this could pay off well when Immortals Of Aveum launches on July 20th on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Thankfully, out of the Summer Game Fest, we have a nice big gameplay drop to get excited over as we wait another month to see if it will all work out well for us all. That or see if it is going to be a title you might be skipping out there instead. Here we go…
This new gameplay takes us all onboard a Colossus that it looks like our Immortals are usually in control of. It looks similar to the Megazord that we have seen in Power Rangers shows out there, but that is just my perception. What we do know is that it is being overrun by an invading force and we are tasked with eliminating all of those foes. All while running about and shooting our various magics at them and using other magics to grappling hook and swing about the area. Thus, pushing Immortals Of Aveum closer to the BioShock side of gameplay in the mix. A great thing as long as the team makes it their own and is not relying on this fact to sell us all.
It is interesting to note that our character in Immortals Of Aveum sounds like they have access to all three different forms (colors) of magic in the mix. That feels about right when it comes to the “savior” story that games like this usually go with. It does beg the question if we will have to face off or ally with others who have mastered one version to a level we will never be able to get to. That would make things a little more interesting in Immortals if the case, but I am ready to see and hear that we will be the master of all three just as so many other stories like it go with. Not much longer to wait and see, though.
Immortals Of Aveum — Colossal Assault Gameplay
Immortals Of Aveum is a single-player first-person magic shooter where you play as Jak, an Immortal capable of using all three colors of magic as he fights to save the realms. He will need to uncover the mysteries of Aveum as he joins the Everwar, fighting for the control of magic itself.
As Sandrakk and his forces continue to march towards their goal, the Immortals aren’t too far behind to stop him. Jak, Devyn, and Zendara board a Colossal, a massive walking automaton able to transport an entire battalion of battlemages, to chase Sandrakk down.
Experience fast, fluid, first-person spell-based combat that’s easy to learn and satisfying to master, where magic is at the core of both offense and defense. Master three colors of magic and unleash spells with deadly skill in a game that defies FPS conventions.
I do want to note that this new gameplay for Immortals Of Aveum does feel a lot like the opening colossus fight I fell in love with in God Of War 2 so long ago. It has such a close feel to it all as we have to fight our way back to the control room of the machine out there. All to lead to what looks like a massive boss fight that could bring us back in control or bring down the massive machine in the mix. It does not feel like it will be part of the opening for Immortals Of Aveum, but it would be a massive point in its favor with me if it did. Not only for the nostalgia of it all but also as it would set a solid pace for the game from the start… if it can keep it all going.
Have you been sold on Immortals Of Aveum more with this new gameplay or do you need to see more before July hits? Will we master all the different colors of magic or will we stick to being a novice in them all while watching others be the true masters out there? Would this be a great way to open the game up to us all or will it be something that happens later in the title? Feel free to head to the comment section to talk about all of this and more. We will keep the news for Immortals Of Aveum flowing out there to you, so please keep a close eye on the site for all of that and everything else we can find out there during this fun time in the industry.
