Nintendo Switch Is The Official Name & Gaming On The Go Is The… Game

Nintendo Switch — First Look

The Nintendo NX has been officially shown off and its new name is the Nintendo Switch and it looks to bring all of us back to play

This announcement seemed to come out of nowhere but as it turns out we now have the Nintendo Switch to look forward to next March. That’s right. The Nintendo Switch. That is the new name of the NX that we’ve been seeing and hearing so many teases about up to now and in the mix of all of the other things going on in gaming now it looks like it was time to give us the new console that they have been working. Or is it more of a handheld device? Or a mobile thing? Let’s have a look at what we know from the announcement of the Nintendo Switch then.

As it looks, Nintendo has taken the tablet computing thing to a new level by taking their Wii U idea and running with it. The Switch can hook up to your TV, be disconnected and taken remote, then have the controllers removed to make it a screen with controllers or multiple controllers with friends. Quite an interesting take on the whole thing and it looks like it will be able to handle some of the higher end games out there that seem to have been missing from the lower powered consoles they have pumped out for us in the past years.

According to some reports it looks like the Nintendo Switch will be as powerful as the Xbox One in terms of computing power. I’m going to go on a limb and say the original Xbox One and not the new Xbox One S but none the less it looks like it can handle some graphically intensive games out there. It looks like the only hitch there will be the fact that the Nintendo Switch is going to be a cartridge based system again with 36GB being the standard for those games. That isn’t a lot of space but I’m going to go on a limb and say there will be some sort of internal storage to handle those larger titles like the PS4 and XB1 currently do.

At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch Dock that connects the system to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting Nintendo Switch from the dock, the system will instantly transition to portable mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on an airplane, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment.

Gaming springs into action by removing detachable Joy-Con controllers from either side of Nintendo Switch. One player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options. They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con Grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Furthermore, it is possible for numerous people to bring their Nintendo Switch systems together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition.

In all honesty, the Nintendo Switch looks to me to be what the company needed to get back into the arms race here for gamers. Even if it isn’t the most powerful system out there, the fact that you can truly take your games on the go without the need of a huge backpack and extra screen does give it a slight advantage. Of course that is if you can live your life moving from game to game and don’t care about real-world activities like the people in the above ad. I know there are humans out there that like that kind of thing but I have a feeling this will be more to keep your game going when you have to poo more than have to go play a game of basketball.

Are you surprised to see what the Nintendo Switch has for us here? Are you also shocked that it looks to be hitting a release window of March of 2017? Do you think that it will be able to keep up with the other consoles out there or will this put the system at the same place that the XB1 was last year? Let us know your thoughts on it all down in the comments and feel free to discuss. As more on the Nintendo Switch is revealed we will have it here for you. Keep a lookout here as we will keep the updates flowing as they all come out.
