During PAX East, Friday The 13th: The Game had not only a new trailer drop but also a brand new Jason for the Friday The 13th franchise to carry on
I hope you are ready for a huge dump of visuals and gore for Friday The 13th: The Game as it looks like we have a plethora of it here fresh from PAX East. As has been the case for some time, Gun Media brought a whole lot more to the convention as we all still wait for that Early 2017 release date to finally come so we can start killing everyone on our PS4, Xbox One, or PC. In terms of what they actually brought was a look at many of the never seen kills, Locations, and Jasons for Friday The 13th: The Game that Illfonic has been plugging away at so we can all experience the fun. It has to be soon as Early 2017 is quickly fading away. At least that is the hope as long as the console certifications flow nice and quick.
First up on the docket here though is a look at a nice new trailer for Friday The 13th. As promised it shows off what looks to be all of the maps that the game is launching with and a slight look at one of the new Jason version, more on that in a bit, but also it has so many of the new kills that can be performed in the game. There are supposed to be a lot of creative ways that Jason can kill you in the game and this is no joke. This trailer shows off a whole lot more than ever before. The best part too is that only a few of them look to need any requirements fulfilled in terms of location unlike some of the others we’ve seen and heard of from the Friday The 13th franchise already. Have a look and see what is coming soon.
Friday The 13th: The Game — ‘Killer’ Trailer
The PAX East 2017 ‘Killer’ Trailer featuring Crazy Lixx! Check out new locations, new counselors and of course several never before seen kills!
Maybe you saw him or maybe you didn’t, but the version of Jason from Friday The 13th: Part 9 was mixed in there in a few spots. If you missed it though it is okay as that was one of the other bigger reveals out there and we have some nice high-res images of the character model to look at. Seeing as he is toting around an ax in Friday The 13th: The Game instead of the more iconic machete, I’m going to go on a limb here and say that any deviation for the character will be revolving around that weapon more than anything. Each different version has had their own little bonuses to gameplay as you have to level to unlock them, but until we hear from Gun Media on that directly I’ll just go with that for now.
The last little surprise for Friday The 13th: The Game out there was a better reveal of the pre-order Jason that has been crafted by Tom Savini for the game. Jason hasn’t seen an update since 2009 and in terms of Savini doing the update, not since 1984. None the less it is here and it looks like it is carrying on the legacy after Friday The 13th: Jason Goes To Hell. At least that was the inspiration for the character as it is Mr. Savini’s vision of how being drug down to Hell would warp and twist the character and such. It definitely also has a Ghost Rider feel to it all, but if you want to have a look at the neck up for the character you can do so just below.
This is the first Jason Voorhees created by Tom Savini since Friday The 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter (1984), and the first new Jason in the series since the 2009 film reboot.
At the end of Friday The 13th Part 9: Jason Goes To Hell, Jason gets drug into the depths of hell, seemingly gone forever. This Jason model reflects Tom Savini’s interpretation of what might have happened to Jason after this epic event.
I am still a little ‘iffy’ on how I feel about this version of Jason for Friday The 13th: The Game though. Not as much given the description for the inspiration and direction, but for me Jason has always been a water-based character given the history and how the films have played out. The character still looks pretty cool and seems about right for the story being told, but that doesn’t change my true feeling on it all. I’d have liked to think that he was being tortured in a place of water and that would have warped him further. It would have made a few of the skins look quite similar in the Friday The 13th game but it would have fit better for me. Then again, I’m not part of Illfonic and so far I have been trusting their direction so hopefully this will be another great addition.
How crazy are those kills we had to see here for Friday The 13th: The Game? Do you think that most of the Part 9 Jason’s kills will be linked to the ax or will he have a few others specifically for him that won’t rely on it? What are your thoughts on the technically Part 10 version of Jason we are getting for pre-ordering? Let us know all of that down in the comments and then discuss. When it comes to Friday The 13th: The Game and games like it, you’ll want to stay locked into the site here as we will keep bringing all of the updates and visuals for them. Don’t miss out on a single thing now.
