Dead By Daylight has another killer on the way to help end us in the game with a new feature coming to Dead By Daylight along with them
It was only a matter of time before we had yet another killer on the way to Dead By Daylight, and here we go with another new one just for the IP. Not another of the borrowed killers, even if it would have made sense to have more of Frank Stone from Behaviour in this one, but we are getting a new one and they come with a dog. Not just any dog or hellhound, but one that brings a new feature to Dead By Daylight that has not been in the game. It is an AI-controlled NPC that will do our killer’s bidding while we also get to roam the Fog doing our own bit of handy work along the way…
In this new addition, we are getting The Houndmaster in the mix of Dead By Daylight. A person who has also seen some terrible things, run-ins with pirates, and survived on a mysterious island in the Bermuda Triangle. The Entity has brought The Houndmaster into the fold to enact some twisted revenge out there along with her hound Snug. Snug will be able to take commands like Search and Chase in the matches of Dead By Daylight to better help us out while also bringing The Houndmaster closer to finishing the survivors off a little easier with each one found. An interesting new addition, for sure, and just below you can have a little look at the design of the characters before we get to see them in the full game on November 28th.
Dead By Daylight — Doomed Course
Doomed Course’s Killer, The Houndmaster, otherwise known as Portia Maye, stands as one of the most unique and tragic characters to enter the Dead By Daylight universe. Beginning life as a curious, kind-hearted girl, Portia’s mind was shattered when she was forced to witness the brutal torture and murder of her father at the hands of pirates in the 19th century. Consumed by her hatred, she grew up alone on the mysterious Dragon’s Tooth Island in the Bermuda Triangle, devoting her life to inflicting pain on those responsible. The only remaining tie to her humanity – the bond she shares with her hulking dog Snug, a gift from her father, who aids her in the hunt.
As Dead By Daylight’s first AI-controlled animal companion, Snug will serve to help Portia chase, track, and grip fleeing Survivors so she can finish the job.
Players will have access to 2 distinct commands for their canine cohort: Chase and Search. The Chase command sends Snug charging forward with the option to redirect him for additional control. Should he catch hold of a Survivor, Snug will drag them back towards The Houndmaster to face the horrors that await. The Search command additionally creates a Houndsense radius which widens as Snug moves, sniffing out and revealing any Survivor caught within its reach.
Are you excited to see how Snug will function in Dead By Daylight and will it be more than just a basic function with a dog skinned over it? Will this mark for more of these kinds of companions in the game or will this be the only time we get to see it? Will we ever get all of the big crossovers that many fans want or will the spin-offs stay in their own lanes for now? Head on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else that we have to offer up to the world out there. We will have much more for Dead By Daylight as the game keeps expanding, so please keep on checking back in for all of that and much, much more.
