Another Borderlands is on the way with Borderlands 4 getting a full announcement during Gamescom this year
While it seems like it was held well under wraps before now, we have the full announcement that Borderlands 4 is on the way and coming in 2025. The writing was kind of on the wall with some of the other versions of the IP that Gearbox has been pushing out there but they took to Gamescom with 2K to show it all off. Something I am sure they were hoping would have made a bigger splash with the recent release of the Borderlands film, hence another of the clues that hinted that this was going to be an announcement. I am getting off the topic though. The game is coming and we have a slight teaser to look at to get us all amped up for this new entry into the IP.
Okay, excitement might be a little much as it is a basic cinematic that lets us all know that Borderlands 4 is coming and coming in 2025. When in 2025? That is still a mystery too. What we do get to see is that it looks like there might be some cybernetic character in the mix and that we are going to be shooting and looting on an all-new planet in the Borderlands universe. If the visuals here are anything to go by, it also alludes that the team might be ditching the cartoonish nature of the visuals and leaning into more of the grittier stuff out there. This could have been a way to keep some off the track of the announcement or to lean into the marketing of the new film though. Here is a look at it all for you.
Borderlands 4 — Teaser
Borderlands 4 arrives in 2025.
In this next installment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet.
Did you need this to get that sour taste of the Borderlands film out of your mouth or should it have always been expected? Will they lean into the grittier nature of the visuals or was this made to link up better with the film instead of the game? Are you excited to have the prospects of new characters to play with or will you still go with the one carry-over character that always seems to make it back into the games? Head on down to the comments and shoot it up with your thoughts. We will have more for Borderlands 4 as it flows out there, so please keep on checking in for those updates and the many others we will have along the way.
