The final release date for The Surge has been set and with it we have another fun CG video for The Surge to celebrate and get us amped up even more
It looks like today is the day that we change The Surge‘s May release date into a solid May 16th release date as it has now been set for us. This was about when I figured that Deck 13 would be looking to release the game, but now it is confirmed and those waiting to give it a good play can now try to shuffle their schedules around to fit it in. There are already a few other great titles listed as launching on the same day, but all in different gameplay styles than The Surge so now you will have options and yet another title to put in when you need to break up the flow or monotony of the others out there. We all need a break sometimes…
To go right along with the release date announcement for The Surge, we also have a new trailer for the game. Unlike all the others before this one though, this is a new CG trailer to show off a bit of how the world works in the game. A mysterious company has merged an exoskeleton to you because of the titular surge that occurs, but you are not the only one with that issue. That and the machines in the area have all been scrambled up to. Thus is how The Surge is and now you can see a very cinematic version of all of that just below. It will give you something to stare at for the next few months as we wait for the game to finally release if nothing else.
The Surge — Stronger, Faster, Tougher
Megacorporation CREO works to reverse the devastating effects of climate change, but the facility is hit by a mysterious, catastrophic event. After awakening from a blackout caused by this disaster, Warren is thrust into a deadly new world. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers, and rogue AI―it seems like everything wants him dead.
Players are pitted in a desperate fight to survive, engaging these unpredictable foes in tight, visceral melee combat. Grow in power with The Surge‘s next-gen looting system: Target and slice specific limbs off your enemies in battle, then equip the weapons or armor you dismember!
The Surge arrives May 16th and is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and, PC.
Did you also figure that we would be seeing The Surge land on May 16th or where you hoping for a different day so the game could have time to shine? Will this be a day one purchase for you or will you be waiting to see how it fairs in the mix of all the other titles with the same date? Do you think we’ll ever be able to pull off a cool fight like the one we see above or will it forever just be in the realm of CG and nothing more? Let us know down in the comments and feel free to discuss. Now that the date has been set for The Surge, I am going to guess we’ll be seeing a lot more of it in due time. Keep checking back in on the site to be sure to see it all.
