Another turn-based title, Dead Season, is revealed to the world to give us more zombies to kill at the height of this Dead Season
We do not have any shortage of zombie games out there, and we are going to be further certain of this once Dead Season comes to the PC. This would be the next title that Snail Bit and Iceberg Interactive are working on that will give us more of the undead and in a turn-based tactical title. A genre that many thought to have died out, but just like the zombies coming at us in Dead Season, it keeps on coming back from the dead. Now that we have the reveal and basics for it all, let us take a look at just what we can expect when this one drops this year. As long as it does not have any stumbles along the way.
Just as we should assume from a setup like this for Dead Season, the world has been overrun by the dead and we take up the roles of a group of survivors. Survivors who need to scavenge, strategize, and move about the game’s world just to stay alive. All while making as little noise as possible or coming up with a great plan to sneak past or kill off all of the undead in the way. All taking place over sixteen different missions and different types of zombies too. All so we can get this new single-player story out of Dead Season in a motion comic manner as we press on. Here is a slight look at what is on the way for us so we can further get hyped up.
Dead Season — Reveal
Iceberg Interactive and Snail Bite reveal Dead Season, a brand new PC turn-based tactics game set in a post-apocalyptic zombie world, set to release in 2024. The world as we know it has crumbled, overrun by the relentless scourge of the undead. In the midst of chaos, a group of unlikely survivors band together, and their only goal: to outlast Dead Season.
In this single-player turn-based tactics game, guide a group of unprepared strangers in their struggle to survive a zombie apocalypse. Scavenge for items, complete objectives, strategize to survive against relentless undead hordes through narrow escapes and close calls, but beware, noise attracts more danger. Can you escape the outbreak’s grip?
Features of Dead Season include:
- Unforgiving turn-based combat where you scavenge for weapons, level up, and unlock new abilities to outsmart and outlast the undead.
- Single-player campaign with 16 missions, unfolded through a narrative brought to life through motion comics.
- Every noise you make attracts the attention of even more dangerous threats.
- Face a variety of enemies, including different types of undead adversaries, and ruthless thugs.
- Experience the fear and desperation of survival as you traverse through nights filled with terror and streets cloaked in shadows.
I am a sucker for a good zombie title as well as a turn-based game, so Dead Season is hitting those notes perfectly for me. It also has a look and feel of boardgames like Zombicide to me, so there is that extra little bonus too. If only they could get the rights to do that style of game, but that is a different topic to go on. My biggest hope for Dead Season has to be that it is able to tell a story we have not seen or heard in the genre many times over. It is a hard task to do with survivor stories being the easiest to fall into the same tropes with, but I will keep hopes high. The comic nature of it all does cast a few shadows but I am still looking at that as just an art style and not a clone of something else.
How are you feeling about Dead Season based on what we have so far for it all? Does it sound like it is going to be a by-the-numbers turn-based title or could we see something new in the mix? When will we ever get a full-on Zombicide title out there and not one that just mimics the board game in a virtual space? Shamble down to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else we can share with you out there. The cycle for Dead Season has just started, so we know we will have more on this game in short order. Please keep on checking back in to see and hear how all of this will flow out there as the developers ramp things up.
