Learn a bit on how Matchmaking is going to work in Halloween: The Game and see how often you can be the Boogeyman for Halloween
We are under two weeks out from Halloween: The Game landing on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC with a whole lot of hype starting to build for it all. Even if it is following the same structure that we have seen from IllFonic in other horror IPs, this one is getting a little more of a shakeup. Not just because we are getting a single-player mode for Halloween: The Game, but now it looks as if Gun Interactive is pushing forward with a new way to do matchmaking. A way that might make it easier to play as Michael Myers in the game, but it could easily be abused. Depending on how they implement the new matchmaking system to get us all into the matches and slaying each other in the multiplayer.
I will admit, some of that sounds a little reactionary when it comes to Halloween: The Game out of the gate, but let me explain and let you see if that might be the case. Just as we have seen in other games like this one, we will get to choose if we are playing as Michael or a Survivor before heading into the various matches. That includes selecting all of the perks and other things beforehand. Instead of just getting randomly dropped into a role, we will be queued up so we are going to be placed in our desired slot during the match. That does mean it could take a bit longer for us to get in and play as Michael, given that so many are going to want to play as The Shape. The concerning part of it all for Halloween: The Game is that we will have Killer Tokens that will push our names down the list and get in sooner. Tokens that are collected through doing various things as Michael in the game. The concern will be if they are going to monetize all of that, thus letting people pay to always play as Michael, leaving many others in a queue or giving up in general. Have a look at the full explanation in the following video, but take note that it does feel a bit off to allow for that.
Halloween: The Game — Matchmaking Queue Overview
Become the Boogeyman and terrorize every soul in Haddonfield, or attempt to stop the very essence of evil.
Here’s how matchmaking queues function in Halloween: The Game.
How do you feel about the matchmaking that we are going to have in the mix for Halloween: The Game, and does it make sense to force us all into a line to play the specific roles? Would this work better if we were always randomly slotted along the way, or will there be enough players who want to be survivors to justify this? How long until the Killer Token aspect of the game is abused, or will there only be so many for each player given that they are supposed to be tied to actions we take as Michael? Let us have that discussion in the comment section down the page here. We will see where things go for Halloween: The Game, as September 8th is almost here. We will offer all of the updates that we can on the website, but you will want to make certain you are following all of our social channels to see when things go live. You might even be able to see when we go live with playing the game before and after the game launches. Now, is that not going to be a bit of fun?
