Have a long look at Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy with the latest gameplay we have for this title in the A Plague Tale world
We just had the release date for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy drop on us all, and now we can have a solid look at the gameplay we are going to get to experience when the game hits the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on August 27th. One that already looked as if Asobo Studio was deviating away from the structure that we all knew from the IP before now. Given that we’re following a different and more capable character than we have in A Plague Tale before now, that does make sense. Even if this new and longer view of the gameplay does make it feel as if we are losing the DNA of the IP, just to tell us the story of a different character. Not a terrible thing, but something that feels out of place with the traditional stealth-based video game we’ve come to love.
All of that aside, here we go with a nice little segment of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy to showcase Sophia’s journey out there. One that also aims to highlight the new combat system that we are going to have in the game. Given that we’ve yet to have something like that with the kids in the game before, that’s a massive departure worth noting. Not to mention, all of this makes Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy look and feel like an Assassin’s Creed title from the onset. There will still be a little bit of stealth in the game, but that will be tossed aside rather quickly for Sophia to go into a wild melee combat with everyone. I’ll admit, it does look rather impressive and fun to pull off. I’ll just need to get over the fact that it’s set in an IP that was winning awards for story and the stealth mechanics that it brought about back when E3 was still a thing we could go to.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy — Long Gameplay
Alongside tense stealth mechanics that match Resonance’s unnerving atmosphere, the new trailer showcases the game’s visceral combat system. Against large groups of enemies, Sophia must rely on agility and brutal efficiency. Players will need to master precise parries and chain fast-paced attack combos with Sophia’s dagger and sword. Sophia can also turn the environment to her advantage, using her versatile grappling hook to pull enemies closer or hurl them into deadly hazards, allowing her to control the flow of battle.
Beyond combat, exploration is driven by intricate ancient puzzles built around the manipulation of light. Solving these challenges is essential for Sophia to progress across the island and uncover the secrets hidden within its darkest depths.
A Cruel Legacy: The Dual-Timeline Mystery
As she progresses in the depths of the Minotaur’s Island, Sophia begins experiencing flashbacks to the Minoan era. She soon realizes that the mysterious presence resonating within her is none other than the legendary hero Theseus, who lived centuries before her time.
Through the eyes of Theseus, she will face even more brutal and demanding trials. As new allies emerge and new enemies awaken, signs of a terrifying entity lurking in the shadows begin to surface across both eras, despite over 2000 years that separate them. In this journey to self-discovery, only Sophia’s courage and raw strength can guide her toward the answers she seeks.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on August 27 and is now available for pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The game will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
Does this still feel like it is set in the universe of A Plague Tale? Will there be any big stealth sections in the game, or will that just be an option we can take? Is the gladiator area just a way for the team to flex on how good they have made their combat system? What other weirdness do you think we’ll see crawl into this title over time? Let’s have it all talked out in the comment section a little further down the page here. There are still a few more months to get all of those questions answered for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and we’ll have those answers here as soon as we can. Please come back to the site and follow all of our socials to see when that is ready for you to enjoy. Along with all of the other fun bits that the team can offer up to the world out there.
