The open playtest for Dreadmoor is finally here, and we only have a short window to play the latest version of Dreadmoor
After sitting and waiting as long as we have, we can all give Dreadmoor a bit of a play out there on the PC starting today. Not that the game has fully launched out there, it seems that Dream Dock still has more to do for this game, but the open playtest has begun, so we can have a sample of what the game will hold. As if we need more than a dark fishing adventure with all manner of Lovecraftian monsters trying to end our lives to give us a reason to drop anchor on this one. Or is it pull up the anchor? I have no idea, but I do know that those who have any interest in Dreadmoor can give it all a bit of go right now and until May 25th when it sails out into the development waters again.
There is not much describing what will be part of the playtest we are getting here for Dreadmoor, but it does look as if we are going to have more than just the sailing and fishing mechanics that we have seen before now. Some of the world exploration, crafting, and other looting systems will be part of this, if the following video is anything to go by, as well as some encounters with those larger monsters that are lurking under the water. I will go on a limb and guess that some of the story for Dreadmoor will be mixed into all of this, so those looking to have a spoiler-free experience when the final build is ready, you might want to steer clear of this playtest. I am sure that many out there will host some videos showcasing how the gameplay flows, and without any of those major story spoilers. You will just need to make sure you ignore some of the exploration bits as well, so you do not figure out how to solve puzzles well before you actually can.
Dreadmoor — Open Playtest
Join the Exclusive Limited Fan Preview (Open Playtest), May 18-25.
Dreadmoor is a dark first-person fishing adventure game. Anglers explore both land and sea, fishing for a wide variety of aquatic creatures lurking in the depths, and fighting their way through a flooded wasteland filled with danger and mystery. It features cinematic storytelling, psychological tension, crafting, and addictive fishing mechanics.
Are you going to take up the wheel with the playtest for Dreadmoor, or will you hold out until the final version of the game is ready for us to partake? How much of the story will be in the mix of all of this, or will it mostly be a test for the gameplay elements that we already know will be in the game? How much longer until we get the final version of the game out there, and how different will it be from anything experienced over the next week? Let us have all of that in the comment section so we can discuss it all. There should be more for Dreadmoor on the website, and in general, very soon. Please come back as often as you can, and watch all of our social channels to see when all of that is ready to go out there. You will be glad you did that.
