Dylan Shifts Us All Through A Bit More Of The Gameplay For Control Resonant

Control Resonant — Gameplay Reveal

New gameplay for Control Resonant is out there to help us see how things will be shifting about in the world of Control

With all of the new threats out there in Control Resonant, it makes sense that we are going to need a few new ways to handle things out there. Not to mention, since Dylan is a bit different than Jesse, it would make sense that Remedy shifted things around for the character to help Dylan feel truly different than we have had in the world of Control up to now. Even if they did try a few things before with other spin-off titles, that is a whole different story. Here, though, we have a new look at the gameplay for the game and how things will be different and potentially better when the game lands on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC later in 2026. Let us have a look.

The new gameplay we have to share with you here for Control Resonant is a bit that highlights a bit more of the brutal nature of Dylan with the melee weapon being used. It is another that can shapeshift like we saw with the gun in the previous title, but The Aberrant seems to only take the shape of big, heavy weapons that Dylan will swing around. Along with all of that, it looks as if Dylan will have the ability to get dirty with hand-to-hand combat, with a bit of paranormal forces helping out. Not just with the hits, but this new footage for Control Resonant shows a new ability called Shift. One that will allow Dylan to shift between different planes to move around and get a better angle on the enemies. It does look as if it is something we are going to have to master to not get dizzy, as it will have us walking on walls and ceilings in the game, but it is nothing weirder than we have had to do in all of the other titles the team has put out there up until now.

Control Resonant — Gameplay Reveal

As Dylan Faden, you’ll take on a wide range of paranatural threats head-on, utilizing the environment, deploying extraordinary abilities, and the raw force of Dylan’s shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant.

Wield the Aberrant in its many deadly forms and decide how you want to tackle your foes in combat as the weapon morphs on demand to meet each new challenge. Dylan’s abilities extend beyond combat as he uses them to traverse perception-bending locations and grapple with gravity anomalies that distort the vertical and horizontal plane.

Control Resonant arrives in 2026 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store. Wishlist now.

Does all of this new footage feel like it fits in the setting of Control, or does it feel like a different game to you? Will we get to see the Service Weapon back in the mix at some point in the game, or will The Aberrant be the only way we are allowed to fight with Dylan? How confusing will the Shift ability be for players, and will there be an easy way to make sure we are correctly oriented once the fights are over? Let us have those thoughts and feelings in the comment section further down the page here. We know we are getting more for Control Resonant soon, so please keep a close eye on the website and our social channels to see and hear all of that. Even if it does feel like a shift from what we knew before, we are still hyped up to see how this expands the universe that they have been crafting for a while. We are just not certain it is going to flow well with a melee combat style over the firearms we had before.
