Marvel’s Wolverine Slices Things Up With Some Brutal Gameplay

The Wolverine is getting one step closer to a launch, with a whole lot of new gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine

It feels like it has been such a long time since we had the announcement of Marvel’s Wolverine, close to four years since we had the reveal, and now we are finally ready to see some of that gameplay the game will have. We know that Insomniac Games has the ability to nail it all in that regard, and given how they set the tone with just the reveal trailer, there are high hopes that everything will flow just as smoothly as their previous titles. Thankfully, we do not have to wait long to see that gameplay, as we have a solid bit here. Then we will only have to wait until the Fall of 2026 to finally get to experience Marvel’s Wolverine on the PS5 for ourselves. Still a bit of time, sure, but what we have to look at here is going to make it all worth it.

Some of the fears for Marvel’s Wolverine have been that they were not going to give us the gritty version of the character after giving us the upbeat version of Spider-Man before. Those worries can be put to rest now, as it does look like this is going to be the more brutal version of the character. I mean, he does shove his claws into the face of a human, with all of the blood flying as one would expect. All while giving us a bit of gameplay that looks like the combat of the Spider-Man game, just with the Wolverine groundedness of it all. Then there are the action and platforming that is very reminiscent of Uncharted, even if that is a different team for that title. Also, as long as that is all part of the actual gameplay and not just a scene for us to watch and he claws his way through the various locations as he is hunted down.

Speaking of being hunted down, it does look like some of the characters known to go after Wolverine will be in the mix here. Some of the more grounded ones, as well, as we see Omega Red and Mystique in the mix, along with what I would assume to be the Reavers. As the team goes a bit behind the scenes for the game, you can see that after the gameplay, we are going to have many more faces from the character’s history in the mix, too. Some may be alluded to, and others assumed, since it would be weird not to have Wolverine without Sabertooth. I am going to guess Silver Samurai and Lady Deathstrike will be in the mix, too. We do not get to see them, but just as it was in Spider-Man, it would be like not having Venom or Doctor Octopus in the mix of those games. I just kind of hope that we see Alpha Flight out there and maybe another X-Man or two.
