The Monsters Are Pushing Us All Back In Dying Light: The Beast

Dying Light: The Beast — Part 3: The Monsters

The next part of the Dying Light fun is here to show off how the zombies have been evolved leading up to Dying Light: The Beast

The teasing for Dying Light: The Beast carries on, as we all wait for the release of the game on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That is still set for September 19th, so we can expect a little more of that from Techland for sure. Especially as this little title has been showing more and more how it has taken that winning Dying Light formula and building upon it. This time, we get to see just how the zombies in the world have been evolving. Not only in-game, but also how the team has been working to make them further terrifying, and other tropes to make sure we do not have shambles still. You do have to love it when a team is not set on giving us all the same thing and truly wants to perfect their craft. Even if that craft is more of the zombie horde that feels like it has walked its course over the years.

Now that we have that out of the way, let us all have a look at how the zombies have been evolved for Dying Light: The Beast. Things like the animation and basic AI for the zombies have been further upgraded so they look and feel like they could have been humans who were alive and have some of the realistic motions to their bodies. Along with that, new and better growl performances have been implemented here, and we even get a few more of those horrible roars, too. Things that build into the Volatiles in Dying Light as well, as they look to be able to navigate the world a bit better and have more fluid of motion as they do. Good news for those who want an extra level of realism in their game, but bad news for those of us who will find ourselves on the run quite often from them. Have a look at the little bit we do have for them below, and then get ready for the fear to flow out there just a bit more.

Dying Light: The Beast — Part 3: The Monsters

Techland is thrilled to share the third chapter in their road to Dying Light: The Beast launch – a short new trailer where Kyle Crane embraces the Beast within to face the horrors of the night.

And speaking of deadly, zombies have always been at the heart of Dying Light. With Dying Light: The Beast, Techland wanted to push them further than ever before – not only visually, but also in how they behave, react, and sound. They are the backbone of the experience, and they dedicated enormous effort to making them unsettling, believable, and unforgettable.

How did they take them to the next level compared to the previous Dying Light games?

  • Authentic Look & Behaviour – Zombies have been overhauled to feel more realistic and unsettling, with a stronger sense of their former humanity and a more terrifying presence
  • Immersive Zombie Sounds – Growls, shrieks, and movements now convey raw, desperate intensity, emphasizing the horror of the infected
  • Evolved Volatiles – Their movement, obstacle navigation, and pack coordination were redesigned to feel more threatening and unpredictable
  • Reactive Combat & Physics – highly aggressive zombie behaviours, instant counters, short cooldowns, making encounters intense

Have you been watching as the zombies have been evolving over the years in Dying Light, and does this feel like we are getting something truly next level now? How do you think this will build into everything going on for Kyle and the abilities he now has to work with? Will we ever get a break in the game from all of the running, or will these new Volatiles always be able to keep up with us? Run on down to the comment section to feed those thoughts to us all, and then discuss. We only have a little longer to wait for Dying Light: The Beast, and we know there will be a whole lot more to come for the game. So, please keep on checking back in for all of those updates and everything else that we have going down out there for it. It is not going to be one we are going to want to run away from, that is for sure.
