One last playtest for Damned 2 is on the way and ready to give us a taste of what Damned 2 will hold before it launches
It has been a longtime coming, and now we see some light at the end of the tunnel for Damned 2. After seeing many other asymmetric horror games come and go, it is finally time for 9heads Games Studios to see if it is going to hold up. At least, on August 7th when the full game hits the PC and then down the line when it opens up to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Sadly, a break in releases hits us all again, but for Damned 2, this news does come with an update and chance to play the game one more time before waiting again. Only waiting a month after it is said and done too, with one last playtest about to kick off and welcome those PC gamers in to help make sure things are still balanced and fun out there.
Those looking to have some different and explosive fun over the weekend here, can hop into the final playtest for Damned 2 starting on July 3rd and running through to July 7th. In the United States here, that will be a nice little holiday weekend to gather your buddies and try to survive the horrors within. That or take up the mantle of the entity and hunt them down in ruthless ways. There sounds to be many different playable monsters we will have in Damned 2, so that should keep all the matches feeling fresh and new. All while the survivors need to navigate the areas and solve the various puzzles within so they can find their way out. The typical style of these kinds of titles, only with this one does not rely on established IP to draw players in. That could be the winning cycle here for those who enjoy the style of gameplay but do not feel the need to see Jason or Leatherface for the hundredth time in the day.
Damned 2 — Final Playtest
Over a decade after becoming one of the most influential titles in the asymmetric horror genre, Damned 2 returns with a new vision of multiplayer terror. The sequel will launch in Early Access on August 7, 2025, on Steam, with PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox One and Series S|X versions coming soon after.
Developed in Unreal Engine 5 by 9heads Games Studios and published globally by Nuntius Games, Damned 2 brings a fresh and immersive take to a genre it helped define.
Originally released in mid-2014, the first Damned was the world’s very first asymmetric horror game, paving the way for a genre that would become a global phenomenon and inspiring the creation of titles like Dead By Daylight (2016), Friday The 13th: The Game (2017), and many others that followed.
The Final Playtest for Damned 2 will be public and free, running from July 3 to July 7, exclusively on PC. To join, simply visit the game’s Steam page and click the “Request Access” button. Several streamers have already shared plans to go live playing with their followers during the event.
In this final test before launch, players will have access to the new monster Blight, two new survivor characters (Mother Lucy and Mac), and the new map Ashen Mortuary, along with several other improvements and new features.
Damned 2 is an asymmetric multiplayer horror experience that focuses on audiovisual immersion and tactical variety. The game features highly detailed environments, advanced 3D sound, and dynamic lighting that heighten the tension in every dark corner.
Its immersive VOIP system simulates ambient echoes and reverberations, creating realistic and terrifying situations for players communicating by voice in-game. Additionally, the randomized placement of items and puzzles in each session, combined with a diverse roster of playable monsters with unique abilities, ensures that no two matches are ever the same.
Have you been waiting for Damned 2 to finally drop out there, and glad to see we only have a little over a month to wait now? Take the thoughts on down to the comment section to discuss it all and everything else we have on the docket here. We are going to have more for Damned 2 as we get closer to the launch, so please keep on checking in here for all of that and much, much more.
