Directive 8020 Will Make You Want To Trust No One Out There In The Universe

Directive 8020 — Trust No-One

New looks at Directive 8020 offer up a few of the gameplay mechanics we will need to use to make it through the events of Directive 8020

If things were not already bad enough in the mix for Directive 8020, now we get to see just why we cannot trust anyone on the ship with us. Well, more on how we are going to try and mitigate that issue that Supermassive Games is placing in the mix out there for us. This is a Sci-Fi horror, and what would it be without having a shapeshifting alien or being that is hunting us all down? Just what we have suspected in Directive 8020, beyond all of our protagonists being robots. It looks like that one was a bit off with all of the fleshy horrors we see here in the latest video. Along with how we will out any of the aliens along the way when the story kicks off on October 2nd on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

To go a step further, we also have a new-ish mechanic on the way to us in Directive 8020. It is something that the team used insanely well in a different title, but something new for The Dark Pictures line of video games out there. During the game, we will have some instances called Turning Points. These will be moments in the game that will be where parts of the game can branch and lead us down different paths. Nothing new yet, but that is before we mention that we can rewind to any of these moments in Directive 8020 and make a different choice and keep playing from there. Not just so we can undo a bad choice, but so we can see how all of the events in the game play out. Those purists out there will also be glad to know that there is a mode in the game that turns this feature off, so you can always just live in the horrors you have made in the universe. Have a look and see how all of this is going to function when the game launches.

Directive 8020 — Trust No-One

A new world. A new directive.

The Cassiopeia’s mission to Tau Ceti f was meant to begin humanity’s next chapter.

Instead, it may be the final one.

As fear spreads and loyalties fracture, survival depends on one thing: who you trust.

Directive 8020 releases on October 2nd, 2025.

Directive 8020 — Turning Points Feature

What if you could do it all differently?

Will Doyle, the Creative Director for Directive 8020, is here to introduce our new Turning Points feature. For the first time ever in The Dark Pictures, you’ll have the opportunity to go back and change the outcome of your choices.

Can you save your crew, or will you seal their fate all over again?

Were you pretty much expecting to see some of these features in Directive 8020 after they worked so well in their last project, or did you think it was going to be like the early days of having to replay the whole experience to get the full story? Do you think we will have to go through the scanner multiple times in the game, or will it only be for the one scene we have played out above? How else do you think the crew will be able to figure out who has been turned and who is still their normal, fleshy self? Take a trip on down to the comment section to discuss everything that we have to share with you out there for the game. We have more on the way for Directive 8020, so be sure to stay locked into the site and all of our channels so you are able to keep up on it all and be ready for when it releases during spooky season.
