Toxic Crusaders Slaps Us With Some Gameplay To Radiate Into Our Brains

Toxic Crusaders — Official Gameplay

The official gameplay for Toxic Crusaders is here with a look at what we can expect from Toxic Crusaders when it launches later this year

Every new update for Toxic Crusaders gets me pumped up. Partially to see what Retroware is crafting together for this classic IP and going to be able to bring back into the zeitgeist. Also, partially to hear what Psychostick has put together for the music of the game. That band is rather near and dear to myself and a few around the office. All of this to lead into the fact we are one step closer to all of this with some new gameplay for Toxic Crusaders and a timeline we can expect to see the game out there. It is a general one, but it looks like Q3 of 2025 is when we can expect to see the game on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, presumably Switch 2, and PC. Enough of all of that, let us see how they are going to bring all of this into the action space for us.

It is going to feel like we have seen a bunch of this for Toxic Crusaders before, but not much of it in gameplay motion. Like, we knew we were going to get seven playable characters, but did not truly know how they were going to be able to be swapped during the live gameplay. It was also known that each of the characters would have their own special moves and attacks, and now we get to see more of that in motion here. All as we get teasers of the various Troma-inspired levels, we are going to be fighting the good fight through. A fight that is going to play like many of the brawler games we had in the ’80s and ’90s out there. Along with that, fully voiced and animated scenes to help tell the story, all using the same style as the Toxic Crusaders cartoon from long ago. A nice little touch when you know that the original will be part of the release of this game, too. So many fun things to see, and you can do some of that just a little lower down the page now.
