The Friend’s Pass is set in stone for Split Fiction and here is a little bit on how it will get us playing to Split Fiction
Since the announcement of Split Fiction, it was known that we would be playing the game with friends just as we have with all of the other titles Hazelight Studios has brought to us over the years. It is kind of how they build these experiences. That is why it is not strange to find out that they have made it so EA will be bringing us all the Friend’s Pass to this game too when it launches on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC this March 6th. This would be the way that one player can own Split Fiction and still have other friends join in even if they do not own the game in the first place. Even if it would make them much more money as the game would not be playable if you did not have friends to play with. It just makes it hard for the terminally lonely… but, I digress…
Just as the other titles that the studio has dropped, Split Fiction will require your friend to download the specific version of the game to their chosen console. The gameplay will cross platforms, so you are not limited in that way. From there, it is just a matter of syncing up the game and your personal time to be able to hop into the game and experience all that it has to offer up. While this is a free download for those who did not purchase the game, it is something that places Split Fiction still in that game space and excludes a number of gamers in general. Even though it is free to play with friends, the game cannot be played without a friend. So, if you don’t have any gamer friends or they all have very bad connectivity, buying this game in general will be pointless. It is a solid idea, but I think it still runs afoul of those who want to experience the game but can never find anyone willing to join in. Sadly, this is why I have still never had a chance to experience any of their titles and most likely will not be able to as there is still no way to play the story alone for those who just cannot get any others to join them.
Split Fiction — The Friend’s Pass
Split Fiction is a split-screen adventure tailored for two! Experience boundary-pushing co-op gameplay where you’ll have to coordinate your actions and timing as well as work together to overcome challenges.
Download Friend’s Pass to play Split Fiction with a friend for free on any platform (crossplay on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC)! Try the early stages of the game in couch co-op or online cross-platform with another owner of the Friend’s Pass. If a friend owns the full game, you can join them for the entire adventure for free.
Will you have friends joining in the fun of Split Fiction because only one copy is needed or will you need to hit up strangers to lay the game? Would it be possible to get a solo mode in the games for those who do not have gamer friends or live where network connection is shoddy? Are all of these limitations why the publisher is fine with the developer going about it this way since it guarantees that not everyone who buys the game can play it as often as they like? Head on down to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else that is going on out there. We will share all that we can for Split Fiction as we get more, so please keep on checking in for all of those updates and the various others we will have coming down the pips along the way. Maybe we will see some change, but I do not see it happening by the time this one launches.
