Immortal: Unchained Is Announced To Be Another Souls-Like Title Coming Soon

Immortal: Unchained — Announcement Trailer

A new Souls-like shooter, Immortal: Unchained, has been announced and Immortal: Unchained looks to shake up the genre a bit but still keep it difficult

It looks like we have another “Souls-like” title to look forward to now as Immortal: Unchained has been given a full announcement and is poised to hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC at some point. You can read that as there has yet to be a release date set down for the game, but that does not mean that Toadman Interactive does not want you to at least hear about the title. This is of course why we are here right now and that is to talk about Immortal: Unchained now that it is out there in the world. Well, at least talk about what we do know about the game as far as it is still at the announcement state that usually does not come with a lot of detail.

Before we dig into Immortal: Unchained, have a look at the announcement trailer for it all. There is not much in the way of actual gameplay, unless the team is going to blow our minds with the high-end CG we have here, but it does give a feel for the world we will be in and a taste of the character we will help guide through the mission to save the world. It could also be save the cosmos, but just have a look at the trailer we have here for now.

Immortal: Unchained — Announcement Trailer

Immortal: Unchained is a hardcore action RPG set in a dark, sci-fi universe – a unique take on a well-known sub-genre, blending a third-person action shooter with a hardcore RPG.

The game’s central character is unwillingly unchained and released by the warden. Given only the instruction that time is running out for the world and that your skills are now needed, you must set off with no memory of who you are or what you do, and find any information you can from the game and the characters you meet.

However, the truth is not always clear as characters will always put their own agenda first, and discovering the truth is just as much a challenge as the gameplay and just as much of a reward.

So, what do we know about Immortal: Unchained here? Well, obviously it is a “Souls-like” title as we mentioned. That means we will have a third-person perspective of the character and the world. It will not focus on melee weapons and use more of the firearms that we can see here, but we will still need to dodge and move to set up shots and take down the enemies. Immortal: Unchained is not a run-and-gun title and you will find yourself respawning at the “Monolith” many times if you do go down that path. That and you will also need to go out and reclaim your dropped “bounties” and gear where you last died; or at least try going down a different path to further the overall narrative of the game.

There will be multiple worlds in Immortal: Unchained and we will get to travel to some of them during the game. I read this as we will also have off-world contact but still be restricted to specific places to keep the universe that Toadman Interactive is building under a bit of control. It would be quite the nightmare to build a whole universe in the way of a “Souls-like” title and make sure the user can find their way around still. That could just be my thoughts on it and Immortal: Unchained could have many other reasons mixed in when all is said and done. I guess we will see soon-ish…

How does Immortal: Unchained sound to you now that you have been briefed a bit more on it? Do you need another overly difficult title in your life or do you just want to get through a good story with fun gameplay in the end? Do you think have a fully open universe in this style of game is manageable or would it be too tedious to track down and recover your goods if you died on a different planet than the Monolith that respawns you? Let everyone know what is going on in your brain down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. For more on Immortal: Unchained though, be sure to keep checking in on the site here. We will hopefully have much more as development presses on.
