Since the days of the original
PlayStation, the holy trinity of Sony exclusive developers, Insomniac Games,
Naughty Dog, and Sucker Punch have always worked hard to produce amazing,
wholly original content for the various Sony consoles. Today it was first
revealed by Game Informer that Naughty Dog, creators of Crash Bandicoot and Jak
& Daxter are working on a follow-up to their hugely
popular PS3 title Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. The sequel titled Uncharted 2:
Among Thieves follows Nathan Drake on an adventure involving the voyages of 13th century explorer Marco Polo. While new characters and locations are expected,
it was also announced that a new free climbing mechanic and new stealth sections will
be incorporated into the game.
Along with the reveal, there was a
quick thirty second trailer that was released as well. The teaser features Nate
trudging through snowy banks in what could be anywhere from the Artic to Siberia. He falls to his knees to pick up an artifact
that is sticking out of the snow. The treasure, possibly a dagger given its
shape, has a sinister looking face carved into the end and ironically features
designs more often associated with Central & South American civilizations
such as the Mayans, Incans and Aztecs. Whatever the case, this is one game I’ll
be keeping a very close eye on.
