The fourth playable clan for Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 is here to round out all of the types of vampire we will get to play
The time has come and we have our final clan for Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 when it comes to playable clans from the launch. Just as we thought it might be, it looks as if The Chinese Room is giving us all the Ventrue to use in the fight of the night. These are one of the main vampire clans that we normally would get to use in the game on tabletop as they fill the usual stereotype of things as well as give us a social way to handle many of the issues out there. They are the kinds and “blue bloods” of the kindred for a reason after all. Let us all dig in a little bit for what this all might mean.
While we do not get a video to show this clan off, we get the usual concept art of how Phyre will look if we go with this vampire clan. The reason we would want to do that is because they also get the ability to manipulate humans socially as well as have the ability to alter their minds. In that instance we are talking about a level of mind control and hypnosis for those not fully up on the lore of Vampire: The Masquerade or who played one of the Bloodlines titles in the past. They can also be hard to damage in a fight, but there is no indication if that will be the case in this version too. I would think so as it would mean just less damage taken, but we only have Presence and Dominate listed for now.
Nicknames
The Clan of Kings, Blue Bloods, Tyrants, Warlords, Patricians, Borgias
Who Are The Ventrue?
Ventrue vampires usually choose their progeny from mortals familiar with power, wealth, and influence. Seeing themselves as the rightful leaders of vampire society, Kindred of clan Ventrue take up the mantle of leadership wherever possible, often in the form of high positions in Camarilla Courts.
Playing A Ventrue In Bloodlines 2
Ventrue are blue blooded tyrants who incite obedience in both their allies and their foes. Using the Disciplines of Presence and Dominate, they can mesmerize as well as awe their prey. Feeding builds up Fortitude, allowing the Ventrue to soak up more damage in case any enemy is powerful enough to resist their force of will.
While it is not one of the vampire clans I would have personally wanted to play with, it is one of the ones that make the most sense for the general audiences out there. Usually, when you think of the traditional stereotype of the creatures, this is one of the versions you think of. They also feel perfect for those looking to go into Bloodlines 2 with a social run instead of just a violent run. I am sure that the other announced clans could have the same ability, but the Ventrue would be the vampire clan that makes it all the easiest. I do wish we had a little something to look at for them in motion, but I have a feeling the big gameplay reveal next year will house all of that.
Did you want to have a vampire clan that was more social than anything or did you want one of the weirder ones in the mix? Do you think all of the clans will have a social path they can go down or will the Ventrue be the only one that can do that given their abilities? Will we get to see any of the other clans as DLC down the line or will we only get them if we mod them in? Venture into the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else for the game. More is on the way for Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 and we will share much more for the title when we get it all. Please keep on coming back to see and hear all of that.
