New details for Far Cry 5’s co-op and multiplayer gameplay is here from Paris Games Week as well as a new look at the cult of Far Cry 5
If you were worried that Far Cry 5 was not going to have some kind of multiplayer component mixed in, then let me put that worry to rest for you as it has now been shown off out at Paris Games Week. Yep, Ubisoft has given us a look at the “multiplayer” aspect that we can all look to enjoy when the game hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 27th. I say “multiplayer” as it looks to be just co-op in Far Cry 5, but that could be something just for this reveal and a full multiplayer could be on the way with the full game as well. We will have to wait and see on that, but for now, we can see just how we will be playing the game with at least one of our buddies out there. At least if they also have the game and an internet connection as none of it looks to be a couch co-op but an online co-op. Again, we will see.
As to what you will be able to experience in Far Cry 5 in this co-op mode, well, pretty much everything out there in the game. According to what has been reported, the whole campaign of the game has been designed to allow for co-op to be part of it all with both players being able to track the same mission in their story or just to rampage around this version of Montana as they wreak havoc on the Eden’s Gate cult. It is not clear if both will be able to bring along their buddies or if they will count as the buddy for the missions. In the following trailer I do see Boomer, but this could just be how it was all clipped. Seeing as it is stated that one can drive around while the other flies, I am going to guess that we will not be getting two players and two AI controlled characters to tackle all of the issues out there.
Far Cry 5 — PGW 2017 Multiplayer Trailer
When you’re trying to take down an insidious cult that has gripped a small town in its violent clutches, it’s nice to have a friend along for the ride. That’s why the developers of Far Cry 5 have designed the entire campaign to support co-op play. Whether you’re taking on missions to root out the Project at Eden’s Gate or just cruising the countryside in a pickup while your buddy flies a plane overhead, the vast open world of Montana is more than big enough for the both of you.
On top of the new look at the co-op for Far Cry 5; we also have a nice little behind the scenes video for the game all about the cult in the game. It is no surprise that Ubisoft wanted to get things completely correct when it came to this part of the game as they do like to show off the weirdness of the real world in their games. It is interesting though that according to the dev team and consulting experts, they were able to cover the basic horrors of a destructive cult but not the true extremes that can happen in the real world. Usually, this is something that is the other way around, but I guess humans are more messed up in the head than most think or want to think. I guess we will see what is considered the close version of a cult like this and then go a bit further than Far Cry 5 goes.
Far Cry 5 — The Rise Of A Cult
The developers of Far Cry 5 consulted with real cult experts to find out how a group could rise to power and take over a whole town.
Are you glad to see that Far Cry 5 will allow you to play the whole game with a real buddy or would you rather it be a specific game mode instead? Do you think that this buddy will be your only companion in the missions or could all of the buddies come into the fight here? How much worse do you think the cult could have been or was it a ratings board issue that the team did not want to deal with? Let us have all of those thoughts down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Far Cry 5 in all of its ways, make sure to stick around here on the site. We will have more for you and you will want to see it all before launch.
