A new VR title, Paranormal Hunter, will have us all donning our headsets to co-op take down spirits when Paranormal Hunter launches
We are going to have a whole new way to hunt some paranormal entities out there with the announcement we have for Paranormal Hunter today. This is a new VR title that is heading into Early Access on the PC in the first half of 2022 that EALoGAMES has been working on. On the surface Paranormal Hunter may not sound like much to stand out beyond the VR side, but this one looks to have us all in a co-op bit of fun while rummaging around the houses of the deceased out there. Yes, this is a co-op VR title. One that will also be making its way on to the consoles at a much later date too.
You can get a better look at the tease we have for Paranormal Hunter just a little lower down, but it looks like your standard horror VR game out there. Given the developer, it looks like it is going to lean a bit more into the Japanese folklore and horror than anything else. I mention that as I know that some horror fans out there will dig right into all of that and others might opt to look the other way. Given that Paranormal Hunter will have us using UV lights and various other bits of gear to bring down these entities with three other friends, it could shift things a bit as we know it from before. We will only have to wait and see for now.
Paranormal Hunter — Teaser
Explore notorious haunted locations alone or with up to four players in online co-op. Conduct paranormal investigations in dilapidated homes, long-abandoned hospitals, and other ominous sites. Scour each scene for key objects and clues to summon the dark spirits refusing to move on while learning about each location’s tragic history, then banish each ghost before their dark energy spreads and consumes unfortunate souls.
Encounter terrifying spirits inspired by Japanese folklore and horror cinema. Avoid otherworldly pursuers, momentarily repelling ghosts with UV light blasts. Creep through twisting stages full of locked doors and blocked passages, moving cautiously to maintain precious sanity and survive to see the morning. Use the rewards from successful hunts to purchase additional equipment.
Dive into an immersive experience crafted to create moments of soul-shaking horror for solo and cooperative sessions. VR users can make use of a diegetic UI, with health and sanity meters represented via an in-game watch for an added atmosphere of authenticity. Engage in crossplay with both VR and standard keyboard and mouse players for a tailored and inclusive co-op ghost-hunting experience across all input methods.
Paranormal Hunter will be available on Windows PC via Steam Early Access with VR support for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality devices in Q2 2022 for $14.99 with English, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese-language support. PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions will torment consoles alongside the simultaneous PC 1.0 release in late 2022.
Does Paranormal Hunter look like a VR title you will be jumping into or will you be waiting to play it in a console setting? Do you think that your friends will try to haunt you more than the game or will the floating hands we see here get you more often than not? Is this a style of horror that gets your heart pumping or is it something that leaves you generally wanting more? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all as you so wish. We will keep the news flowing and all updates for Paranormal Hunter that we can on the site. Please keep checking back in for all of that and much more.
