Two new video clips for Horizon Zero Dawn have been released and they show off two of Horizon Zero Dawn’s machines that will be snapping and killing us
We’ve seen a few of the machines in the past for Horizon Zero Dawn and some of them look like they are going to be a nightmare to fight and others look to be a nice easy ride. Of course looks can be deceiving and there are also a lot of other machines out there in the game’s world that could also make things look that way or the other. To help with all of that though, it looks like Guerrilla Games has started a new video series for Horizon Zero Dawn to help show off more of the machines that now own the world as well as how Aloy can bring them down or turn the tides of the battle with them. Hopefully we get some of these for each of the machines as there are listed weaknesses as well but for now we have only two to start with.
First up we have Horizon Zero Dawn‘s Thunderjaw. More or less this machine looks and acts like a velociraptor with lasers and explosive weaponry. Why anyone would ever want to go up against one of these is beyond me as this is was nightmare are made of for children. None the less it is in the game and we can have a look at how it can bring Aloy down with ease, but also how Aloy can use its own weapons and tactics against itself and possibly pick up a new firearm for a short while. At least as long as the disc launcher persists after the main body of the beast has been disabled. I know I’d lug that thing around if I could in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Horizon Zero Dawn — The Machines: Thunderjaw
The combat-class Thunderjaw is one of the deadliest machines encountered in Horizon Zero Dawn. A formidable beast equipped with cannons, disc launchers and a mouth laser, its powerful ranged attacks will quickly cut down any hunter foolish enough to alert it. Space permitting, it can also unleash with a devastating range of melee attacks such as charges and tail swipes.
The second video we have here is for the Snapmaw in Horizon Zero Dawn. We’ve seen this machine in past videos but nothing more has been shown or said about it before now besides the fact that it looks and acts like a crocodile. A crocodile that can spit freezing blasts of energy to destroy anything trying to get in its way. Yea, Guerrilla Games kind of left that out of all of the other videos and hype for Horizon Zero Dawn but now we can see its greatest weapon and weakness in action here for the first time. Well, weakness if Aloy can manage to hit the small pouch under its jaw which is what gives it the freezing blast capabilities and such. But seeing as it goes along the lines of all video game logic, it spits ice so fire arrows will also help us in the fight.
Horizon Zero Dawn — The Machines: Snapmaw
An acquisition-class machine, the Snapmaw is frequently found basking in or near bodies of water, where it gathers valuable minerals from the sediment. It can move with surprising ferocity when alerted, lashing out with an array of melee attacks that include powerful lunge bites and tail swipes. For ranged attacks, it fires off cryo mortars that freeze the target on impact.
What do you think about these machines in Horizon Zero Dawn now that you’ve been given more of the skinny on them? Do you think that the developers have made it look easy to hit the weaknesses on these beasts or will they be just this easy in the final game? Do you think that we will also see a fire spitting and water spouting machine here or will they only use a few clichés for the game here? Let us know what you are thinking on all of this down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. As we see more of these videos for Horizon Zero Dawn or anything else, we will have it here on the site for you. Be sure to keep checking back in for all of that as we get ever so much closer to February 28th when the game finally hits the PS4.
