A new horror multiplayer title, Hide And Shriek, has been announced and Hide And Shriek has you dealing out all of the horror and not the developers
If you were wondering where all of the good horror games where this month then let me introduce you to Hide And Shriek. This is a new multiplayer horror title in the works just for Halloween from Funcom. You know, the ones who brought us The Park last year and now want to keep the horror flowing with Hide And Shriek this year on the PC; even though the two titles are not linked in any other way outside of the developers and platform. If nothing though it is a new horror title to get added into the month of fear where things do seem to be a bit lacking this year in general.
Hide And Shriek isn’t just another walking simulator with horror elements like The Park though. In fact, this time it is a multiplayer title where the developers are not the ones who are going to be making you scream. That task will be left up to the other person you are playing against in the ten minute match to see who can freak the other out more. All of this being done while invisible and trying to avoid scare-traps left behind by the opponent. Yes, effectively you are building the horror scene while avoiding the one being left for you. Kind of an interesting take on the genre.
Outside of that information, the release date, and platform there is really not much else to go on for Hide And Shriek in terms of gameplay mechanics and just what is meant by spells and points in the matches. I’m going to guess that the spells are just a way to track the enemy to better set things up and the points will be the number of traps that they get caught by. Even the following teaser trailer doesn’t do much more than set the theme. All for a game that is due out before the end of the month. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how that all pays off for Funcom here.
Hide And Shriek — Teaser Trailer
‘Hide And Shriek’ is a one vs. one multiplayer romp played out in ten minute matches. Your objective is simple: be a mischievous little rascal and scare your opponent half to death before time runs out! If there is no clear winner when the timer stops, the player with the most points wins the game. There is just one catch: you are both invisible! You will need to use cunning traps and potent spells to reveal your opponent in order to scare them. Just remember they are looking for you too, and if you`re not careful you might be the one jumping in your seat!
Does Hide And Shriek sound like a multiplayer game right up your alley? How do you think we will be scored in the game or will it be just as basic as having traps set off? How intense of jump scares do you think will be set up in the game or will they just be basic popups and not much more? Let us know what you are thinking down in the comments and discuss. As we get more on Hide And Shriek we will have it up here for you so be sure to stay glued right here as you won’t want to miss another horror title in just in time for Halloween now would you?
