A new Darwin is on the way to us in the world with the reveal of Darwin’s Paradox! coming to us all
I do not think that many out there had the reveal of a game like Darwin’s Paradox! on their list for 2025, but here we are. A new title from ZDT Studio and Konami that will be offering us all a new action-platformer title in the mix for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. Currently, it is slated to be some time down the road, but that does not mean we do have anything to get excited about as of yet. Out of the State Of Play that just went down, we had a chance to see Darwin’s Paradox! in a bit of action and see how we are going to need to embody this octopus in a very dark world. Yes, this is a game where we are going to get to play as the tentacled beast instead of hiding from one.
That last sentence made it sound like Darwin’s Paradox! is some kind of horror-adjacent title on the way. That is not the case, as it looks like it will be just an octopus trying not to be eaten or turned into food by UFOOD Inc. To do that, we will need to use all of the abilities that octopi have in the water and on land. Abilities that will have us sneaking, blending, and platforming with the best of titles out there. All so Darwin can have their own title in the mix that feels a bit like Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. You know, another title where we play as a creature moving about a world that is out to eat him and his species. I am going to guess this one will have fewer mystical powers though…
Darwin’s Paradox! — Reveal
Darwin’s Paradox!, a new, action-adventure platformer will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
Meet Darwin, an octopus plucked out of his natural habitat and thrust into a chaotic world supplanted by UFOOD INC. where a devious plan for world domination is unraveling.
Tap into your octopus instincts to sneak through hostile territories patrolled by the very human—and definitely not alien — UFOOD INC. Using Darwin’s sucker-lined arms to maneuver past foes, players must use the mastery of the mollusk to deceive and distract with camouflage and carefully timed ink shots, utilizing the environment to gain the advantage.
Where do you stand on the reveal of the journey that Darwin is going to go on in this new title? Is it a nice departure from all of the other darker titles we have had out there or could this be one that goes even darker with themes given the situation we will find ourselves in? How many of the natural abilities will we get with this octopus and will that be the way we get the “mystical” gameplay elements other titles like it have? Swim on into the comment section below to leave all of those thoughts and discussion. We are going to share all that we can for Darwin’s Paradox!, so please keep an eye on the site for all of that. It does look rather impressive and maybe could give way to a whole new line of platforming games that have been lacking as of late.
