Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Takes Us Back Before The Plague Even Started

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy — Official Reveal

A new chapter for A Plague Tale is on the way with the recent announcement of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

If you thought the run of this IP might be over after the last title, then you are in for a treat with the announcement we have for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. Another in the line of titles that Asobo Studio and Focus Home Interactive have been dropping out there, only this time it takes us back before a good chunk of the main games. Yes, this is more of a prequel to the titles in A Plague Tale, but also focusing on a character we were only introduced to in the second full title. It is a weird bit of timey wimey stuff, but I am sure it will all make sense when 2026 rolls out and we get to experience the title on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For now, let us dig into the recent announcement and what we do know about the game before we get too excited about it all out there.

The story we are getting for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy takes us back fifteen years before the events of Requiem, which means it is only a few years further back from the original game too. This one will focus all on the adventures of Sophia before we encounter her in the core game and see how badass she actually was. All as we will fight, solve puzzles, and learn more of the mysteries out there around the Minoan Sphere. Some that looks like it will take us deeper into a maze and a minotaur setting of things. An odd choice given how the core of A Plague Tale focused a bit more on Christian mythology and less on the Greek stories. I am not going to complain, but it is an interesting take on things if it does play out that way. Sophia did have to get some of the skills and abilities from somewhere, and this is going to be the way. Have a look at the video we have announcing all of this fun just a little lower and see just how different it is going to feel while still in the same world out there.

But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon reveal itself. As you journey deeper into the island’s heart, you’ll confront the truth behind a long-buried curse…

  • Followed by many enemies, each drawn to the island to reclaim a mysterious treasure, you must navigate a treacherous maze. Rely on your agility, tricks, and sharp reflexes to outsmart enemies, perfect your parries, and unleash powerful strikes to survive deadly encounters.
  • Shift between the Middle Ages period of Sophia and ancient Minoan times, where echoes of the past shape the battles of the present. Unfold a new story in the universe of A Plague Tale through the entwined destinies of two heroes linked by fate and the Macula’s mysterious legacy.
  • Guided by the knowledge safeguarded in your notebook, follow in your crew’s footsteps to explore a richly detailed world, unravel its secrets, and face deadly trials. Use a stolen Minoan sphere to solve ingenious puzzles by manipulating light – a force woven by Daedalus into the island’s very heart.
  • It is said that only a few came back from the island. Lurking in the shadows lives a restless presence. It follows you around, seemingly knowing your every move, as it hunts through the island’s depths. Every step is a risk. Every pause, a potential end. You can’t stop, only hide, outsmart, and push forward. Can you survive each trial, or will you join those who never came back?

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is planned to release in 2026 and will be available on Xbox Series X|S Day One with Xbox Game Pass, as well as PlayStation 5 and Steam.

Did you think we would ever get a prequel, of sorts, to A Plague Tale, or was this the only way we could have truly moved forward with the IP? Did you get the same feeling of a shift in history here, or am I reading too much into the visuals before we actually get to play the game? Is it going to be odd to not have this be more of a stealth title like the others, or will that be refreshing for those who have wanted something different for a while now? Rush on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and anything else you might have spotted in the video above. Now that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is on our radar, we will be keeping closer tabs on it. Please keep closer tabs on the site and our socials so you are able to keep up with us. The announcement is just the tip, and I know we will be getting some fun gameplay to it all very soon.
