Storebound Will Not Let Us Kick Back & Survive A Comfortable Night

Storebound — Teaser

A new twist on survival horror is teased with Storebound with Storebound placing us in a furniture store for an overnight

It looks like we might be getting a bit of a break in the mascot horror genre of things with Storebound getting teased and taking us to a different location to have to survive. This would be the next title that Embers and Oro Interactive are working on for the PC and it is a new survival horror title that will be placing us directly in a furniture store with the need to survive and escape. An odd choice of things but one that we will take so Storebound can try to stand out a bit more in the mix of all of the other titles in the indie-horror genre currently. Even if some of the things that will be hunting us down might look like they could fit right in with the other mascots we have seen before.

Beyond the setting of Storebound, there is a bit more going on under the hood than those other games out there. This one will be a one to four-player co-op experience if we so choose after we are all trapped in this terrible furniture store. It will not be as easy as surviving a night and coming back, but instead, we will be stuck in here and get a bit of a break during the day where we can roam the building and find supplies and gear that can help us all get out of that employee exit. When night falls, that is when we are going to need to run and hide from all of the terrible things lurking about in Storebound. All with a limited view and making as little noise as possible so they do not track us down in the mix. That is where the true survival part of it all will be coming back into play out there. Have a look at what we have to tease the world with just a little lower down and get ready to see if this is where you will be getting your next couch.

Storebound — Teaser

Escape the Furniture Store: Survive the Night, Find the Exit

Trapped inside a nightmarish furniture store, you and your friends must scavenge for survival and find the exit before the “employees” catch up to you. With your life on the line, it’s a fight to stay alive as you navigate the aisles during the day and hide from the staff when the lights go out at night.

1-4 Player Co-op Survival Horror

Join forces with up to three friends in this intense first-person survival horror game. Communicate with your team through proxy voice-chat or walkie-talkies, coordinating your every move to make it out alive.

Daytime (“Open Hours”)

During the day, you have some breathing room to explore, but the clock is ticking. The goal is simple: progress and scavenge.

Resource Gathering

As you venture through the massive store, you’ll need to scavenge for essential supplies to survive. From food to tools, the items you gather are vital for your escape. You’ll also need to find shelter spots where you can hide from the store’s horrors when the lights go out.

Focus on Progression

Every minute counts. Keep moving forward, scouring every aisle for what you need while avoiding exhausting your resources. The more you explore, the closer you get to finding an exit. But be careful, the longer you stay in the store, the greater the risk.

Night Time (“Closed Hours”)

When night falls, everything changes. The lights go out, and the “employees” of the store, hidden in the darkness, begin to roam. Survival becomes your only focus.

Defensive Play

Once the store closes, you’ll need to enter shelters and hide from the dangers lurking in the aisles. Avoid making noise or using lights that could give away your position. Every sound could lead the employees straight to you, and their hunt is relentless.

Limited Visibility

The night brings extreme darkness, drastically reducing your visibility. You’ll have to rely on flashlights, small environmental light sources, and your memory of the store layout to survive. Every corner could hide a danger, and every move could be your last.

Do you think that the setting of Storebound will help it to stand out from the other games like it or will it slump into the same setting in the end? Will we be able to fight back and distract the “employees” hunting us down or can we sacrifice other players to get away? How long will it take for us to make our way out of the building and how will it be explained in terms of the size of it all? Sneak on down to the comment section and then let the discussion flow on out there. We will try to keep up with Storebound as the development keeps on going, so please keep on checking back here for all of those updates as they come. I am a fan of the idea but it does look like there is still some work and time needed to get it to a solid and playable state.
