It has been announced that The Surge 2 is in development and as of right now, The Surge 2 is slated to hit consoles and PC in 2019
It looks like Focus Home Interactive has announced a new title out of Le What’s Next de Focus this year and that title is The Surge 2. After the success of the last one and its DLC, it looks like they have opted to have Deck 13 bring us all a full sequel and bring it to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in 2019. Love it or hate it, The Surge 2 is coming and it looks like they are doing what every sequel does; builds upon the past work to make a better title. You thought I was going to say something different there did you not? I am sure you did. Moving right along though…
Details for The Surge 2 are still a bit sparse as it has only just been announced, but the description of the game sounds like we are moving out of the facility and amusement park from before and moving into a full city. It looks like those events from the first game hit harder than we all thought. To help with all of that, it looks like the combat is going to get a bit of an upgrade in The Surge 2 as we will have an expanded limb targeting system, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones to play with. I am not sure what else we will be able to sever on an enemy that we did not already have, but it is going to be a thing here. Maybe we can full fight to the “pain” in this game and not just to disable.
After the success of The Surge, the hardcore Action RPG released in May 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are happy to announce the renewal of their partnership and the development of The Surge 2, with a release date planned for 2019 on consoles and PC.
The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original — hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system, and deep character progression — while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck 13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.
Are you glad to see that The Surge 2 is going to be a thing or did you not enjoy the first title enough to get you excited? How much larger do you think the game’s world is going to be and will it be just as punishing as the last one? What other limbs do you think we are going to get to sever here as all the major ones were covered in the last game? Let us know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss.
