Action-stealth-shooter title, Past Cure, just recieved a story trailer and the worlds of Past Cure are now expanding even further
A new trailer for Past Cure has just dropped on us out there and now we get to see a bit more of the game’s story that we are going to be diving into. Maybe you’ve heard of this title by now or maybe you haven’t, but now you are going to get a front row seat into what Phantom 8 is cooking up for us on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Although if you are still not on board with Past Cure just yet, we’ll start you off by letting you know that it is an action-stealth-shooter title that looks to make you question the reality of the protagonist Ian. At least in some way as you head off in his third-person adventure that will kind of be like Inception. At least that is how the description goes for it all.
As the story goes for Past Cure, we will be taking on the role of an ex-elite soldier named Ian who is hunting down the people who imprisoned him for years and experimented on him in some dark place. These experiments have given him some crazy mental powers that allow him to move things with his mind and control others as he wishes. The problem here though is that the more Ian uses said powers, the more the insanity or madness inside will build up. Sometime through creative dream sequences and sometimes through manipulating the real world in specific ways. Pretty much the check and balance to Ian not just walking around as a living god in Past Cure and keeping him on the track to want to make those who did this to him suffer.
I am sure there is more to the story of Past Cure than we are being led to believe or there wouldn’t be any reason for us to give the game a good play. You can see a bit more of the madness that wells up in the game though in the following trailer and it looks like things could get unhinged rather quickly in the game. I just hope that there will be more than just these sequences to be played out in the final version of Past Cure so the core gameplay is also effected and adds an even bigger hindrance to just using these awesome powers however we deem fit at the time. It would make for a very interesting game in that way; not to say that it doesn’t look and sound that way already.
Past Cure — Story Trailer
Past Cure is a single-player game that neatly combines stealth elements with dynamic action sequences and stunning graphics. The fictional world of Past Cure is set in two different dimensions, the gritty real world and the abstract dream world – a concept that will remind fans of the Hollywood blockbuster Inception. Throughout the development process of Past Cure, Phantom 8 focused on realistic combat animations, challenging puzzle mechanics and a detailed storyline, which completes the overall gaming experience.
Past Cure follows the highly decorated ex-elite soldier Ian and his chase for the men who once betrayed and transformed him. For years, Ian had been the subject of secret human trials, held in a dark prison somewhere in Europe. The experiments left him changed. Ian developed powerful skills such as mind control and telekinesis, but paid the price with his sanity. Each time he uses his powers, the madness inside him grows. This madness is fully revealed in his dreams – and now stretches its claws to reality. With the help of his brother Markus and the mysterious double agent Sophia, Ian pursues the men in the shadows as he takes on Eastern European cartels, secret organizations and unscrupulous scientists. He also encounters an adversary who does not seem to be of this world.
What do you think of Past Cure and the story as it has been laid out so far? Does it seem like there will be a good balance for madness to powers here or will it be more story-driven than mechanic-driven? How quickly will gamers go down that rabbit hole or will it be only in determined locations that we’ll see all of this? Let us know down in the comments and of course discuss. For more on Past Cure as it is revealed, be sure to stick around on the site here. We’ll have more for it in the coming months and I know I am completely curious to see where it goes.
