There is now a release date for Injustice 2’s Sub Zero DLC and we have a small look at him in action for Injustice 2 in case you were wondering
It looks like the DLC fighters for Injustice 2 are going to be rolling out here in a pretty quick order as we just had Red Hood release about a month after the initial release of the game and now we have word on when the next fighter will be joining in. This isn’t a completely new fighter mind you but another from the NetherRealm Studios vault brought to us just for this game. He’s already been announced, but now we know that Sub Zero will be coming to Injustice 2 on the PS4 and Xbox One on July 11th. I’m going to assume that is the date for those who purchased the Season Pass or the Ultimate Edition of the game and those who want him by himself will have to wait until July 18th to do that. I could be wrong though.
Anyways, here we go with another crossover character for Injustice 2 out of the Mortal Kombat universe. No one was too surprised when Sub Zero was announced as Scorpion made the leap in the first Injustice title and with Sub Zero being the other big face for the studio, it seemed a given. Of course, a lot of fans were hoping for another character from the DC universe instead, but I guess it is good to get this character out there in Injustice 2 sooner instead of later so we can hope for more amazing guest fighters to join the roster and fill in the other six unannounced slots still to come. Have a look at Sub Zero in action for now just below.
Injustice 2 — Sub Zero Reveal
For the Lin Kuei! Sub-Zero Joins the fight in Injustice 2 this July.
So, um, yea…that’s Sub Zero in Injustice 2. Pretty much just as expected with a few new twists in there to make him feel fresh for this title and different from the other versions that NetherRealm Studios has brought before. The extra moves and abilities that he’s never had in the MK universe look cool, but seem to be very specific to be used and more or less a pain to pull off. I could be wrong though and an official breakdown of the character for Injustice 2 could prove that way. The sad part is that all I see here is a great way to offer the premium skin for Killer Frost now as all of this combat seems more fitting for her and not Sub Zero. I guess we’ll see here soon.
If you are not impressed by this version of Sub Zero though, do note that we still have Starfire to come to Injustice 2 and the other six characters yet to be announced. If I had to guess, we’ll see Starfire by the second week of August and the announcement of the second Fighter Pack DLC out of Comic Con out in San Diego in July. It would make sense and get more buzz going for Injustice 2 at the time as well as allow the team to bring out more of those fan-requested characters for the game. I know Beast Boy, Spawn, and Constantine are still up there and would be a huge hit to have them shown off or just announced during that week. I guess we will see.
Do you think I am way off on my observations of Sub Zero for Injustice 2 here? Do you think that he will be a platform for a Killer Frost or other DC character’s premium skin in the game? Will you be accepting of the character here or will you sit back and wonder why we didn’t get another of the highly fan-requested characters her instead? Let us and the world know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. For more on Injustice 2 and all of the DLC characters that are still to come, be sure to keep checking back in here. We’ll have all of that information and more as it is all released out into the world.
