Casting Whispers Gives Us A Small Listen Before The Full Release

Casting Whispers — Demo

A demo for Casting Whispers is out there to help pull the rest of us further into the launch of Casting Whispers

Let’s get ready to listen to the darkness out there, with a new demo for Casting Whispers just ahead of its release on the PC this October 22nd. A nice little way for Lantern Bay Entertainment to show off their game before seeing if we need another psychological horror title in the first-person category. I mean, when would we ever not need another one in our lives? Especially when we hear that Casting Whispers will be playing with the audio senses more than the usual things that horror video games do out there. As long as we can keep our ears open and utilize those tools available. Not great if you have any of those hearing impairments currently, though.

The idea behind Casting Whispers is that we are an investigator in 1961 who has been called out for a job in Corburgh, Connecticut. A town that has been filled with all manner of grief and holds a dark past. We happen to have a bit of ESP and our professor has vanished out there in the town. Now, we must head out to use this ability and our own listening skills to find the professor. Further using a listening mechanic in Casting Whispers so we can focus on things from the other side that are calling out to us, offering up insight, or maybe even want to cause the world harm. Now we will need to survive the 6-8 hour ordeal and make our way to one of the multiple endings to the story out there. One that can be teased a bit, as mentioned before, with a demo that is currently live, if the following video for the game piques your interest in it at all. Have a look.

Casting Whispers — Demo

Casting Whispers is a first-person psychological horror experience where sound is your greatest tool. Investigate the paranormal events that plague a city in 1960s America. Shut your eyes. Trust your senses. Listen to the darkness.

The past doesn’t die, it echoes…

1961, Corburgh, Connecticut. A decaying industrial city haunted by urban legends, guilt, and grief. For Victoria, a young lab assistant studying Extra-Sensory Perception (ESP), Corburgh was always home. But tonight, something has gone horribly wrong. Her mentor, Professor Henry Zubringer, has vanished, and something in his apartment at 1195 Norman Ave. is calling your name.

Enter the shadows, investigate what happened, and try to save your friend… and yourself.

Listen for the truth

Press and hold to shut your eyes and listen, calm your mind, and focus your hearing. This unique mechanic allows players to eavesdrop on hidden conversations, locate secret mechanisms, and hear that which cannot be seen. Use it wisely, as every discovery brings you closer to the truth, but also closer to what lurks in the dark.

Featuring 6–8 hours of single-player narrative horror, Casting Whispers draws inspiration from Americana and Lovecraftian myths. Multiple endings can be unlocked through your choices, or by chance, revealing the many faces of Corburgh’s tragedy.

Key Features:

  • First-Person Psychological Horror: Developed by solo creator Lantern Bay, whose sound work includes League of Legends, Westworld Awakening, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
  • Corburgh, 1961: Explore a city steeped in American decay and urban legend, where the past refuses to stay buried.

Have been listing in for Casting Whispers before now, and are already playing that demo? Do you think there will be some options in the game that make it easier to use non-sound-based skills? What do you think the darkness in the game will truly be? How many of the endings will be the same, with just a few different characters still sticking around in the end? We want to hear all of those thoughts about this and everything else out there as we discuss it all. For more about Casting Whispers, we will do what we can to keep you updated.
