A new showcasing of Prey’s different weapons and powers is here to show you the stuff we have yet to see for Prey so far
We’ve seen a whole lot of the weapons and powers for Prey so far but it has seemed a bit limited. I assumed that was due to the fact that Arkane Studios wanted to keep a lot of it under wraps until May 5th when we’ll all be playing the game on our PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Looks like I was wrong. Not in the aspect that we have seen it all already, but in the fact that Bethesda has brought us one more video here for Prey that showcases more of the powers and weapons in the game that we will be using. Or at least have the option to use as it is sounding more and more like we won’t have the chance to get them all in one play through of the game. I’m completely okay with all of that though.
The limitation looks to come more on the powers and upgrades for Prey than the weapons though. There are 24 different upgrades in general and then 20 more just for powers in the game. Given that it looks like it is all done through the Neruomods, the item with needles you jam into your eye, that make quite a bit of sense. Not to mention that the more alien DNA you take in will cause the Typhon and the machines on the ship to turn on you, it makes sense that we will need to pick and choose. Or at least just fall back to relying on all of those great weapons we are seeing here for Prey. The Gloo Gun is still by far my favorite but the Recycling Grenade is close second.
Prey — Weapon And Power Combos
You might be mankind’s last hope aboard Talos I, but you’ve got a mighty arsenal to face down the Typhon threat. Armed with your wits, weapons and a host of incredible powers, it’s up to you to stop the alien invasion and save all of humanity. Piece of cake. With 24 human upgrades and 20 unique alien powers to choose from (plus all of their upgrades), no two Morgans will be the same, and no two players will have the same experiences in Prey. Along with the human abilities like Hacking, Leverage, Repair, and Gunsmith – all of which enhance Morgan’s innate strengths – you will have access to three distinct trees of Typhon-based abilities. Of course, there’s some risk when rewarding yourself with these amazing alien abilities. As you install alien powers, the turrets on the station will view you as a hostile entity, and you will increasingly run the risk of being targeted and hunted by the massive Nightmare Typhon. But with (sometimes literally) mind-bending abilities like these, we’ve got to say the risk is definitely worth it.
If that wasn’t enough for you here for Prey then be glad to know that we are also supposed to be getting a breakdown of the full armory here this week. Also it has been stated that will be followed up by a breakdown on just how the Neruomod work in the game. Possibly also a list of how many one can find through one whole play through of Prey. I’d like to think that Arkane Studios would have hidden enough to give us all 64 mods, at least for those who explore every nook and cranny, but it does sound like they will be limited to make each play through feel a bit different for each player. I guess we’ll all find out here later in the week.
What has been your favorite weapon shown for Prey so far? To that extent, what has been your favorite power you’ve seen in the mix and do you already see the load-out you are going to go with? Do you think that we will be able to fully upgrade everything if we are willing to work for it or did Bethesda ask for it to be limited so as to force us to want to play through the game more than once? Let us know all your thoughts on this down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Prey as it comes out be sure to stay here on the site. We know there is still much more to see before May 5th and we will have all of it right here for you.
