The Early Access for Bonefield is about to kick off, with Bonefield launching into it just before this coming Halloween
The bodycam horror fun keeps on flowing, as we now have an Early Access launch for the upcoming Bonefield. Well, as long as Red Rock Gaming Studios and indie.io are able to make the October 27th date for the PC to get the Early Access. I am sure they will, but this is just my way of wording it so you do not think this was a full launch of the game. Just a version of it all so we can help test Bonefield before it needs to go through all of the other hoops to fully launch out there. We can leave all of that aside for now and just look at what new horrors will be coming to us all as the bodycam horror genre gets one title larger just ahead of this Halloween season.
With this being an Early Access for Bonefield, it obviously is not a way to play through the full game. In fact, this version of the game will only include the first chapter of the game, to give us a feel for the out-of-town investigator who has now found themselves in the middle of rural Montana. Not a place anyone really needs to be, as the town we are looking into is also a ghost town out there. That is where we will find ourselves in the game, and then need to uncover part of the mystery out there, while also evading the various monsters and creatures hunting us down. Not the greatest look for Bonefield, MT out there, but at least it will all be caught on our bodycam for us to enjoy and have the weird field of vision to try to enhance the realism and scares. Have a gander at the latest video showing off the Early Access and then see if it will be something you will be playing as the Trick-Or-Treaters come wandering about the neighborhoods.
Bonefield — Early Access
Red Rock Gaming Studios and indie.io are proud to announce that Bonefield, a realistic bodycam survival horror, will enter Early Access on Steam on October 27, 2025. Players will be able to experience the darkest horrors of backwoods Americana in. Rural Montana has never been this horrifying before…
Players step into the shoes of an out-of-town private investigator pursuing a lead in the titular Bonefield County. What seems like an open-and-shut case of corporate misconduct quickly turns into a desperate fight for survival: He catches the attention of unstoppable tormentors, whose relentlessness is second only to his determination to solve the case and get out alive.
Players will have to explore the deserted ghost town at the heart of the mystery, with danger lurking behind every corner. The sleepy mountain retreat the investigation starts at is just the beginning: The trail will lead them down foreboding hiking trails, abandoned high schools, and abandoned military bunkers – each brimming with clues that help piece together the horrors that unfolded in the silent shadows of the surrounding mountains.
Cracking the mystery will require more than just sleuthing: Monsters are in constant pursuit, and avoiding them will require quick thinking. There are no convenient stashes or safe rooms. Everything they need to survive in Bonefield County needs to be looted from the environment or crafted in the rare moment of peace using whatever components can be scrounged up from the desolate environment.
The perspective plays a crucial role: Players experience the investigation from a bodycam’s point of view. The narrower field of view and dirty lens create a claustrophobic atmosphere, while the odd visual artifact plays tricks on the player’s eyes: They can never be certain if that flicker of light in the background is just a camera glitch – or a tormentor about to force the investigator into a desperate fight for his life and dash to whatever passes for safety in Bonefield, MT.
The Early Access release will include the first chapter of Bonefield, set in the Gray Manor, a suburban house where players will be pursued by SawHand, a victim of medical experiments turned tormentor, invisible to the naked eyes save for bursts of blacklight. Player feedback will help refine the experience and nail down any outstanding issues, with the remaining three chapters released over the course of Early Access. A sandbox update is planned for future release, which will allow players to customize the experience with new weapons, puzzles, and additional enemies to face.
Those brave enough to visit rural Montana take heed: Bonefield will enter Early Access on Steam on October 27, 2025.
Did you expect this to be such a small slice of Bonefield when it hits, or did you think it would have been a full play of the story? How long will we need to wait between updates, and will it only be small chapters until the full version of the game is ready? What do you think is truly going on out there in the world, and will our investigator be able to survive it all so they can report it all back? Wander on into the comment section below to discuss it all. If we get more to share for Bonefield, we will try to do so here. Just please keep on checking back in for all of those updates and the various other bits we have to share along the way. It looks like it will be a fun ride, and we might need to let the genre keep growing more and more.
