It’s Time For Us All To Have A Meeting With Dr. Selina Tan In 007 First Light

It is time to meet 007’s Tactical Simulations overseer, who will be putting us through some paces in 007 First Light

Given that we are still in the early years as Bond still needs to earn the number in 007 First Light, it is not shocking that we are going to have some new faces in the mix of things. Not just with how James looks, but so IO Interactive can build out more of the world and give us newer things to do than just head out on missions. In this instance, we are getting to meet Dr. Selina Tan, played by Gemma Chan, who will be tasked with making sure our 007 is up to snuff. Something that is still a bit in the shadows as we meet the character, but should be fully built out by March 27th, 2026, when we can take on the role and see just how Mr. Bond makes it to the level we have seen him at over the last few decades. I am sure there is also a bit of upgrading that goes along in the mix, just to ensure the gameplay is in there as well.

While we don’t get to see how Dr. Tan will truly function in 007 First Light, we do get to see how Gemma will be bringing the character to life. Both in voice and in the motion capture of the likeness in the game. I know, actors and actresses don’t always make the game, but it is a nice little bit of extra immersion when they can lend some of that gravitas into the mix. Especially, as we can assume, we will be seeing a whole lot of Dr. Tan in 007 First Light as we gear up and progress through the story at hand. It would be a little weird if we did not have her in a whole lot of extra scenes out there in the game. That all said, have a look just a bit down the page to see the character in action, and maybe get a great idea of how she will function in the rest of the game. If not that, then a bunch of fun gameplay to help highlight all the skills that James has picked up to earn that number.

007 First Light — Gemma Chan

IO Interactive, the award-winning developer and publisher behind the globally-acclaimed HITMAN franchise, and Amazon MGM Studios today unveiled a brand-new addition to 007 First Light’s stellar ensemble, with Gemma Chan (Marvel’s Eternals, Crazy Rich Asians, The Creator) featuring voiceover work and her likeness as MI6’s Head of Tactical Simulation, Selina Tan. 007 First Light is a standalone original, re-imagined origin story of James Bond, set to release on March 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, and is available for pre-order.

During today’s Xbox Showcase, fans got their first glimpse at Selina Tan, an all-new character for 007 First Light. British actress Gemma Chan will portray Selina, joining the project as both the voice and physical likeness of the character, a very first for the actress in gaming. Selina Tan is a senior MI6 figure who oversees the agency’s Tactical Simulations division, a program designed to test and refine the skills of Britain’s most promising recruits. Once a rising star in academia with a background in psychology and strategy, she later made her mark in the private sector, leading advanced research in immersive technologies, before joining MI6 to spearhead the Tactical Simulation Division. Leveraging both scientific rigor and strategic vision, she is a unique asset amongst British Intelligence.

007 First Light’s gameplay will feature Creative Approach at its core. Stealth, spycraft, improvisation with gadgets from Q Branch, melee and ranged combat, as well as Bond’s Instinct will all be tools at the player’s disposal, giving them the freedom to tackle missions their way. Alongside the Creative Approach, 007 First Light will offer bold, cinematic set-pieces that define the Bond franchise, whether it’s high-speed chases, intense shootouts, or a heart-pounding fight aboard a hacked airplane that sends Bond into the open sky without a parachute. Every element is designed to capture the danger, elegance, and spectacle of Bond’s introduction to the world of espionage. Following the hugely positive reception to the gameplay reveal in early September, anticipation is building fast for 007 First Light as one of the main games set to release in 2026.

007 First Light is available to pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, on Amazon.com, as well as for PC on Steam and Epic Games Store. Players who pre-order any edition of 007 First Light will get upgraded to the 007 First Light – Deluxe Edition for free, which includes a 24-hour early access, four item skins: the Gleaming Lighter, the Gleaming Earphones, the Gleaming Phone, and the Gleaming Pen, an exclusive weapon skin, as well as four outfits: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Silent Anchor, and Gentleman Operator. The 007 First Light – Deluxe Edition will be available at launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The 007 First Light – Specialist Edition is offered exclusively on Amazon.com, featuring standout and unique packaging for the game’s case, as well as an exclusive original outfit for Bond, the Classic Tux, for even more flair.

Additionally, the 007 First Light – Legacy Edition will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It includes the full game, the Deluxe Edition content, an Exclusive Golden Gun weapon skin, the Obsidian Gold Suit outfit, a Golden Gun Figurine with Stand & Secret Compartment, a Certificate of Authenticity, and a Steel Case with Magnet.

007 First Light is scheduled to launch on March 27, 2026.

Are you amped to see Gemma Chan coming to help out 007? Do you like it when we get actors and actresses in our video games, or does that feel like a bit of a stunt to do? Will Dr. Tan only be there to hand out gear for our missions? Do you think there will be an option to play some kind of “virtual” mission in the game to better hone all of James’ skills? Let’s discuss all of that down in the comment section. To keep on seeing the updates for 007 First Light, please keep on checking out the site for all of that. We have a whole lot more time until the final launch, so we know we have a lot more to look forward to. As long as it keeps up the steam that we have had up to now.
