A new physical edition of Gloomy Eyes is on the way to us for those who need that version of Gloomy Eyes
There is a new treat coming for us this Halloween, and it is no trick needed, as Gloomy Eyes will be getting a physical release on the PS5. Just as we are all about to dive into the digital version that Fishing Cactus and Untold Tales has for us all, it looks as if Perp Games is stepping up to give those who like to have their games in their hands something to drop into their goodie bags. Along with the game, though, it also looks like there will be a few extra tidbits to surprise us in the box, so one might want to hold off on picking up Gloomy Eyes until October 31st. If physical is not your thing, though, you can snag the digital version of the game tomorrow, September 12th, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
We mentioned a few extra goodies for those who will be holding out to get the physical version of Gloomy Eyes, and it does seem like they will be on the fun side of things. Nothing like some massive statues or anything, but there will be a case of the game, obviously, some postcards in the box, a few stickers, and the inclusion of a digital soundtrack for the game. Nothing too over-the-top, I know, but something to give you a reason to hold off and spend a little extra money on Gloomy Eyes. Not to mention, it will be a title that looks and feels like it should be played on Halloween, so there is that, too. Kids are trying to bring back the undead with all manner of zombies roaming about, with the whimsy of many of the Tim Burton films out there. If you need a refresher, here is a video showing off the new edition of the game, along with some of the actual gameplay we can expect out there tomorrow.
Gloomy Eyes — Physical Edition Release Date
With spooky season arriving next month, publisher Perp Games has joined forces with the teams behind Gloomy Eyes to unwrap a sumptuous treat of their own today. On October 31st, Gloomy Eyes, the cozy horror, “self-coop”, adventure game, is arriving at selected retailers.
Set in the same charming universe as the 2019 award-winning VR film voiced by Colin Farrell, but now extended and reworked into a full game, there are no tricks and all treats in Gloomy Eyes. Players will help navigate the dynamic duo, Lena, a mischievous human girl, and Gloomy, a gentle zombie boy, through a cozy horror-filled world with no jump scares in a bid to find the sun. Taking on their biggest quest to bring back the daylight, the unlikely pair must work together and defy every rule in this solo adventure.
Using their own set of abilities, switching between the two is vital as they traverse delightfully spooky, handcrafted, rotatable dioramas. Filled to the brim with brain-teasing puzzles, ghoulish delights, and a heartfelt story of unlikely companionship, Gloomy Eyes is sure to make even the iciest of hearts melt.
There are no unpleasant surprises inside the PlayStation 5 boxed edition of Gloomy Eyes, just charming postcards to remind you of your time together. A specially designed slipcase to immortalise and protect this gorgeous story will also keep access to the digital soundtrack and sticker pack safe and sound. Gloomy Eyes will be available from selected retailers this Halloween.
Are you going to be holding off on the digital version of Gloomy Eyes for this, or have you already primed your downloads for tomorrow? Why do you think we are getting the specific extras in the box, and will stickers and postcards be enough for the masses out there? Is there a reason they waited until the digital launch day to announce this, or do you think the team was just as surprised that someone wanted to make this game physically? Let us have that discussion in the comment section as we wait for this one to land out there? If you want more for Gloomy Eyes, know that we are going to have it here. We are wrapping up our review of the game now, and we will certainly have a little more as we get closer to the launch of this version. So, please keep on checking in here for all of those updates and everything else we can offer up to you all.
