Clown In A Cornfield Offered Up A Lot Of Scares At SDCC 2025 With A Corn Maze

Clown In A Cornfield Corn Maze — SDCC 2025

We had a chance to experience a Clown In A Cornfield out at SDCC to further hype up Clown In A Cornfield from Shudder

Talk about all of the experiences we had out at SDCC 2025, but one that hit the top of our lists to check out was what Shudder brought out for Clown In A Cornfield. A film that we have all had the chance to see before now, and is getting a hard push once more for the streaming aspect now that it has had its theatrical run. All through a fun little corn maze that added in some great haunted house elements, and ended with a little bit of an escape room feel at the end. Many did not have a chance to make it through, so here we go with our take on the Clown In A Cornfield Corn Maze out at SDCC and how it stacked up for fun, and everything else.

Not only did we get greeted at the beginning of it all with the fun design of things that felt fitting for the theme of Clown In A Cornfield, but it also had a few character actors wandering about to keep the line entertained and then offering up the rules of the haunt. All of which in a fun “in-universe” kind of way. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but as it seemed with all activations at SDCC, the actors that were on site brought their all and helped with the immersion. More so, as our time started around the time of dusk and the true horrors that Clown In A Cornfield could offer for the darkness of it all. Which leads us right into the first little wave of the event.

The doors opened up and we were brought into a well-built corn maze inside of the building. Nothing to a scale that would have been in Clown In A Cornfield, but given the limits on the space, the team did a great job. Especially, as we walked further in and found that it was actually a true maze in the mix. Other members of the experience and our team became lost as we walked into the darkness and fog of it all. A fun little trip with scare actors revving up chainsaws and poking their heads out of spaces to startle and scare. Sadly, and most likely to keep the pacing of things going, we were all quickly rushed off to the next little section of the maze where the production continued.

I think it would have been a bit more fun to wander the maze, but still fully understand the timing aspect. If it had been designed in a way of the traditional haunts where we are all lined up and just follow a path, this would have worked a bit better for me, as it felt like I missed out on aspects of the maze and just happened to stumble upon the true exit. Especially after we lost one of our team members, and they were then forced to follow a path back to the rest of the group. A great idea, if they did not have to funnel as many through the Clown In A Cornfield Corn Maze during the day. Maybe in the future, and lines are not so packed, I can see them allowing for more time to get lost in it all.

Next, it was on to the first, and minor, little “Escape Room” aspect of the maze. We came to a hazy door with another actor and a riddle written on the door. Again, a riddle that was truly made easy so we could keep the flow of things going, but then a fun little twist that came with it all. After solving the three-letter word to open the door, many expected a jump scare to come from behind the door. Between the lighting and the actor, though, the misdirect came perfectly as a Clown grabbed the actor and proceeded to “off” them as we were all directed to run into the next section of the maze. A solid use of the setting and keeping things unpredictable when it came to the experience. So, a massive hat off to the team for that.

All of this culminated in wandering into the final barn sequence for the corn maze, and the confrontation with Frendo from Clown In A Cornfield. Another actor gave it their all and informed us that Frendo had placed a bomb in the building that we needed to escape. Escape came only if we could find a key to open the barn in under a minute. A task that we all took seriously, but sadly, was all for naught since the actor had the key planted on themselves the whole time. Again, I understand the need for this to keep the massive SDCC lines flowing, but it kind of took away from the experience knowing we had no real action in it all. Unlike the first puzzle, where we needed to do something, maybe this one would have worked better if we had just had to inform the actor of what was needed, and then they took action.

Escaping the barn, we were then funneled into a fun extra activation for Clown In A Cornfield in terms of a corn harvest festival. A few more photo opportunities, some carnival games, and then a few extra bits of swag were handed out, and this brought the experience to a close. All in all, about a fifteen-minute experience for us out at SDCC. One, we had a lot of fun with, and managed to record our entire run of. So, if you did not have a chance to wander through the Clown In A Cornfield Corn Maze, have a look below and see what you missed out on. Also, for those who had limited time out there, you can see if it was truly worth waiting in line for hours for or something to catch up on later.

At the end of it all, the whole team rather enjoyed the experience out at SDCC, even though some had not seen Clown In A Cornfield. In fact, it did drive some of those members to actually set out to watch the film after making it back from the convention, so it feels like it did its job out there. Sure, there were aspects that could have been done better, but I will always fall back on the number of humans they had to funnel through to justify some of the choices needed. As I mentioned before, all of the actors and staff working on it added so much to the experience that it was easy to overlook the faults. Extra shout out to those performers or the Clown In A Cornfield Corn Maze could have just been a mid experience if they did not help sell it.
