New gameplay for Final Fall is out there as Final Fall aims to further tell a tale of schizophrenia in the world
When we bring up that a video game is touching on some kind of madness, usually that has to deal with something Lovecraftian, but for Final Fall that is not the case. It is going to be dealing with some of that, but more in the actual mental health aspect of things if it is all done well on the PC. Given that we are heading into the month of that kind of awareness out there, it feels about right to jump into some gameplay for Final Fall and see how it is all going down. Although, as a bit of a heads up, this is going to be a title and gameplay that dives into some dark and triggering imagery. Take that as your first warning before we see how this psychological horror will be driving us all further mad or showing how some out there have to live with these horrors.
In Final Fall, we play as Ophelia, who once tried to end her own life, does not remember it, and has been dealing with hallucinations and voices ever since. Along with various other symptoms of having full schizophrenia out there in the world. All of which we will have to deal with in the game, as our mental state and trauma will shape the world and also fill it with the enemies we are going to have to face. We are going to have to try to keep things in balance in Final Fall too, as the game houses a mechanic that will have Ophelia taking her own life in the game if things get too rough. Something that if it happens three times, our save file will be deleted, and we will need to start the whole experience over. A new little twist on the permadeath systems out there, even if it is a little grim to place that into a game. Have a look and see if this one is going to be too dark for you or just the right level for it all.
Final Fall — Gameplay
Final Fall is a psychological horror game about schizophrenia, trauma, and the monsters we carry inside. You play as Ophelia, a woman with no memory after a failed suicide attempt, lost in a crumbling asylum filled with hallucinations, riddles, and voices that won’t stop whispering.
Explore a world shaped by Ophelia’s fractured mind. As her sanity slips, the hospital twists around her, walls bend, whispers grow louder, and reality becomes impossible to trust. Solve brutal puzzles, survive disturbing hallucinations, and confront terrifying creatures born from her guilt.
Suicide isn’t just a backstory; it’s a mechanic. Misusing items or failing in key moments may push Ophelia to end her life. Do it three times… and your save file is permanently deleted.
Core Features:
- Sanity-Driven World – The hospital reacts to Ophelia’s mental state, changing the environment as her mind deteriorates.
- Hallucinatory Enemies – Monsters aren’t real… or are they? Fight distorted manifestations of her trauma.
- Resource Scarcity – Pills and healing items are rare. Use them wisely, or suffer the consequences.
- Advanced Puzzles – Decode Morse code, solve twisted riddles, and manipulate real instruments like a completely playable piano. (Yes, you can actually play piano.)
- Permanent Death System – Suicides can cut Ophelia’s story short, ending her story and taking your save file along with it.
Can you survive her mind?
How do you feel about a game like Final Fall tackling these kinds of topics, and does it look like it will be doing it well? How twisted will the world be able to get to before Ophelia tries to end it, and what indications will we have before then? Will you play be the permadeath system in the game, or will you be backing up your save files elsewhere to make sure you have more than three chances in the game? Wander on down to the comment section to discuss all of that and everything else that we have going on for the game there. We are going to keep our eyes on Final Fall moving forward to see if it is going to be a game we keep on sharing with you. It is a bit on the darker side of things, but it could be something that you all want to see and hear. Which we will keep on doing if that is the case.
