The Weapons Are All Loaded Up For Us All In The Upcoming Painkiller

Painkiller — Weapons

Get armed up with the weapons of Painkiller as we see them all on display while we still wait for the launch of Painkiller

With a name like Painkiller, one would expect there to be all kinds of fun weapons and ammo to cause some extra pain out there in the world. That would be my easy assumption for it all and it looks as if Anshar Studios and 3D Realms have seen it the same way. They see it the same way that they are dropping a look at the various weapons we will use in Painkiller to unleash all the hell out there and try to make it back out of purgatory too. As long as we are able to use them all to the best of their abilities. Given that we still have some time until the game launches on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, now might be a good time to start to take all of that in.

From the start, Painkiller is going to host us with many of the staples when it comes to first-person shooter titles. Weapons like the Handcannon, Shotgun, SMG, and Rocket Launcher. All of which look and feel right at home in the game here. Then we get the Stakegun, Electrodriver, and the titular Painkiller weapons to round them all out. Those being the ones that are a little more focused and aiming to keep the gameplay feeling fresh just for this title. Even if it feels a little off to have only seven guns in the game and not a solid round number like eight. My guess is that slot will be left open for a melee option, as these games do like to have those in the mix too. That is not the big highlight, though, so just be glad we get to look at all of the firearms on the way to us just a bit lower down. Along with more of the world that we are going to get to experience as we start blasting our way around out there.

Painkiller — Weapons

Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and developer Anshar Studios unleashed a new trailer for Painkiller at the Galaxies Showcase, giving a front-row look at the wide range of destructive weaponry coming to this modern reimagining of the classic action-shooter, including weapons inspired by the franchise’s origins. Check out the arsenal of jaw-dropping punishment that awaits when Painkiller releases this fall on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam!

In Painkiller, you’ll unleash hell with seven bone-breaking, flesh-ripping weapons. Each weapon offers primary and alternative fire modes, elemental effects such as fire, ice, electro, and kinetic, and are upgradable with different abilities to provide unique bonus effects:

  • Electrodriver: Barrage enemies with rapid-firing shurikens that bounce off hard surfaces
  • Stakegun: Hurls high-damage stakes that can impale foes from long range
  • SMG: Unleashes loads of ammo in short, rapid-fire bursts
  • Handcannon: Decimate enemies from long range with deadly precision
  • Shotgun: Spits destructive pellets at short range that can damage and stagger multiple foes
  • Rocket Launcher: Discharges a rocket projectile with a devastating blast radius that can stagger even heavy enemies
  • The titular Painkiller, a versatile weapon with a brutal melee attack that hooks onto enemies and shreds them to pieces while refilling your ammo

Painkiller is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in fall 2025.

Do you think all of these weapons are right at home in Painkiller or were you hoping to see some kind of deviation from all of that along the way? Will there be a slot for a melee option in the game or will it be a weird seven count when it comes to the weapons? What would you have like to see added into the roster here or do you think it is all fitting for what we are about to get? Take a few shots in the comment section for all of these things and then let the discussion flow. We are going to have a whole lot more for Painkiller as the days carry on, so please keep on checking in here for all of that and much, much more.
