Cronos: The New Dawn Merges Us All With Some Terrifying New Gameplay

Cronos: The New Dawn — Official Gameplay

New gameplay for Cronos: The New Dawn is here and it showcases something a bit more terrifying going on in Cronos: The New Dawn

Patience is a virtue we all needed to have when it came to Cronos: The New Dawn, and it is paying off now with us finally getting some gameplay for the game out there. This would be the next big horror title that Bloober Team is gearing up for us after having such a smash hit with the recent version of Silent Hill 2. Just in case you were one of those out there who have not kept up on it all. Just like the other title, Cronos: The New Dawn is going to be a mind-bending horror title that will take us into some Sci-Fi settings instead of an old rural town out there. Now, thankfully, we finally have some gameplay to look at for the game to get us further excited for it to finally land on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC later in 2025. Let us all dig into what we have for now.

It is coming as no surprise that the core gameplay for Cronos: The New Dawn is feeling a lot like Silent Hill with a Dead Space kind of twist to it all. Not that they are clones of them, but you can see how the third-person and gun play aspects of each have played together in the following footage we have from the game. All so we can see the mech we are going to be using to survive in the world can change and adapt to all of these threats, and we will need to be reactive with our firearms, too. All so we can make sure that the horrors wandering about do not merge together. That is one of the new horrific aspects that the other games do not truly have in them. In Cronos: The New Dawn, enemies look like they will be able to absorb other fallen creatures to bolster themselves up and maybe even take on full new forms. This will require us to be faster with our shots and maybe need to do some extra cleanup afterwards, so we do not have massive beasts hunting us down in the world.

Cronos: The New Dawn — Official Gameplay

Bloober Team has unleashed the first full gameplay trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn, the studio’s all-new original survival horror IP. This eerie first look at full gameplay showcases THE MERGE, an innovative new mechanic that changes the way players confront enemies, turning every encounter into a mind-bending nightmare and struggle for survival. The game will be releasing later this year for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

Set across two time periods – the grim ruins of a post-apocalyptic future as well as in 1980s-era Poland – Cronos: The New Dawn thrusts players into the decaying district of New Dawn, inspired by real-life Nowa Huta. You play as a Traveller, an agent of the mysterious Collective, emerging from a dystopian future to dive back into time and extract key people before they perish in the apocalypse. As you explore a world on the brink of annihilation, you’ll encounter grotesque enemies known as the Orphans — twisted, body-horror monstrosities born from humanity’s darkest nightmares.

Kill Them. Burn Them. Don’t Let Them Merge.

In this latest reveal, the tagline “Don’t Let Them Merge” points to one of the game’s core mechanics: downed enemies don’t stay dead for long! If you don’t burn their bodies, these fallen monsters can be absorbed by existing enemies. Through a grotesque process known as Merging, enemies evolve into faster, stronger, more resilient, and far more horrifying abominations, gaining additional abilities in battle.

A World Warped By Time & Terror

Alongside the newly revealed combat system, Cronos: The New Dawn shows many upcoming and exciting features. Players will get a sneak peek of the game’s ferocious weapons and terrifying new enemies, all set against the backdrop of Brutalist architecture falling apart, twisted by the anomalies that warp reality itself. There are also glimpses of enigmatic new characters, all with their own agendas and hidden secrets. Cronos: The New Dawn promises a story packed with cryptic secrets and a creeping sense of dread that doesn’t let up.

Adding to the tension is the game’s soundtrack, created by award-winning composer Arkadiusz Reikowski. The result of a collaboration between Arkadiusz and the Polish-Ukrainian indie folk band Zazula, this track in particular features haunting traditional vocals, creating an ethereal soundscape that blends synth horror with surreal, avant-garde textures. The result is a score as eerie and immersive as the world you’ll explore.

Cronos: The New Dawn is set for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

Were you getting the same gameplay vibes for Cronos: The New Dawn as I was and are you glad to see that there are even more things mixed in to try to elevate all of that horror? Will we only need to be fast on the draw with some of the enemies out there, or will we have ways of making sure they cannot merge with others that may still be lurking around? How long will some of these creatures come after us in the game, and will we need to worry about a “ratking” situation if we do not handle it all swiftly? Rush on down to the comment section to leave all of those thoughts and feelings for us, and then start the discussion for it all. We will share all that we can for Cronos: The New Dawn as it flows out there, so please keep your attention on the site and our socials so you can experience it all right along with us.
